In short: Put up with bad organisation 2 years on the trot. Gave it one last chance in 2009 then we all agreed (me and 4 regular running mates) that we would never do this again. Organised by idiots and tooooo many people running

In short: race was ok let down by the organisation
In full: i ran the bath half Marathon this year and although i enjoyed the day some aspects of the organisation left a lot wanting, they were supposed to close the roads at 10 which they never did which led to a half hour delay to the start which because the starting areas were so small meant you had to stand there getting cold as you had less room than a sardine and could just about shuffle from side to side it also meant you could not do the pre race warm up, not only because of the space but from where i was you could only see a small spec that was the person taking it and as for some of the slower starters they were round a corner and would have needed x_ray specs

the bath course is run in a loop which meant that at about 4 miles the leader came past us, we all had to move over to the left but boy did you have to be quick as we had an over enthusiastic marshal on a push bike going hell for leather and as some people weren't quick enough he simply went through them, at one stage of the race a first aider went into the back of someone

once we had finished we were all marshalled down a side road to be detagged and collect goody bags. What wrong with that? I hear you say, the problem was the side road turned into a narrow lane and you're back to the sardines again, nearly got tripped up on more than one occasion

there were good meeting points, found the other half no problem, it then took us an hour to get back to the car as we had done as they had surggested and used the park and ride which was on the outskirts and as people were still running we had to wait for the roads to reopen

i have entered again this year and in their defence in this year's newsletter they have taken on board the comments made about this year and are making changes, time will tell

In short: Terrible organisation due to too many runners in such a close space.
In full: If the organisers could pen the runners in larger areas then we could actually run in the group we are pegged to. This made the first 3 miles a slow jog until the slow runners fell behind. It was impossible to get into the runners village because the entrance was too narrow. Move the village to the park. And please start on time! The rush for the loos after the postponed start upset all runners plans for an enjoyable run. Next year I hope it is better organised. Learn from Bristol and London races.

In short: Not a very good event ... but could be!
In full: Organisers seem very greedy to cram as many runners into this event as possible. This creates huge problems for everybody.

It could be way better if they limited the numbers to 10,000 or less.

I would in no way recommend this event in its current form.

I will be taking part in the LLANELLI HALF MARATHON again this year. Fantastic organisation, fantastic event and highly recommended.

In short: Badly organised, poor scenery in places but it's my local!
In full: I've run this twice now, and both times (2008 and 2009) the start has been delayed. For a race that's been goin 25 years (as they are great effort to point out), I'd hope for a little more. I understand the lack of space that Bath offers probably contributes massively to the crush but even so, it comes across as a little amateur.

The start and finish is great through town with lots of people and the lovely Georgian buildings but the loop heads out into a much less pretty part fairly fast.

T-shirts are average, lots of lucozade on hand before, during and after.
I'll run it again as it's so easy for me to get to, but Bristol seems a much easier experience.

In short: Great race, weather made up for delayed start
In full: Having run a couple of marathons, was looking forward to this and glad to say, it didn't disappoint. Good course, mainly flat, very good marshalls and the number of runners seemed ok. Medal was a bit basic and the goody bag was a bit of a joke but ok. Made a big difference by staying in a central Bath hotel by the other comments that I have read. Best bit was throwing the water bottles in the jacuzza display on the Bath road !

In short: So much potential for a great race, but currently flawed
In full: Got there nice and early, so parked in town, which was much better than the park and ride queues we saw! However, couldn't get to the right pen with the amount of runners this year - being near the back meant it took the first three miles to get up to pace. Water stations fine on first lap, but not so great on the second lap. Generally frustrating, as the course has PB potential, but took too long to get going! Plus, coming to a complete stop in the queue in the finish funnel was hard work - I just wanted to walk it off!! I think that I wouldn't do it again, but maybe if I were local it would be different.
