In short: Fantastic!
In full: I did this race last year and loved it but this year was even better! The glorious weather helped but being out in the wonderful British countryside running my best time ever in a half marathon made my day! As always great organisation and a very friendly atmosphere from the Dirt team. Can't wait for next year.

In full: Race HQ was at a local school & there seemed to be enough free parking to accomodate everyone. You had to collect your number on the day but when I got there, there wasn't any queues.

The route started out as quite flat along the canal towpath which was fine. Being a slower runner, I positioned myself towards the back so I wasn't blocking up the path for the faster runners. Parts of the path were wide enough to over-take although if you are a faster runner still best to get near the front.

After 5-6 miles, there is a long climb up hill but was worth it as shortly afterwards we were able to run through some beatiful woodland.

Unfortunately we weren't there too long before we started working our way back to the canal towpath for the last 3 miles.

Overall the race was fine, I was doing it off the back of an injury though so I didn't enjoy it as much as I probably could.

In short: well organised race, I'll be back next year
In full: V well organised half marathon with good marshalling and signs.
As others have mentioned more trail would have been nice, but great not having to run on roads!
1st 6 miles along the canal towpath was reasonably scenic, but the miles in the woods were much better.
I was expecting more hills, but was also grateful there weren't more!
Overall a good race that I will be back for next year.

In short: Fantastic race with beautiful scenery
In full: Perhaps rose-tinted by the glorious weather, but this was a fab race with peaceful views of the canal, then a challenging but picturesque climb on a woodland track. There was no easy run down after that, but the stunning views just kept coming and were a good distraction from the undulations that followed! Once back on the towpath the last three or so miles were an easier run in to the finish. A brilliant race overall!

In short: Great race along a great route
In full: This was my first half marathon and was a great race. It was really well organised and the route was excellent. A mix of canal-side running with off-road/woods running (beware of tree roots!!)
I will definitely be entering again next year!

In short: Great feel good run
In full: Very enjoyable event with a few miles of nice flat tow paths to get you going before the climb and off road bit. Back down to the canal for the final 3 miles where you can pick up a regular pace again. Something different and will be back next year. Hopefully there will be more similar events as this is a winner and sold out again. Thanks to the organisers and helpers. The numerous signs for directions plus warnings of roots and normal canal type hazards was a nice touch. Thank you.

In short: A lovely variety of scenery and various terrain, but not what I had expected of a "Dirt Run".The amazing weather which was most welcome, certainly contributed to a lack of dirt!
In full: Gorgeous weather conditions on the day certainly inspired a good feeling and added a spring to my step. A warm and well organised meeting place/race HQ was much appreciated. Although the flat surface of the towpath enabled me to settle into the race well, I was surprised that a large proportion of the event was alongside the canal and not more trail as the advertising of the "dirt run" suggested. Despite this, the off road parts were fabulous, offering a variety of scenery and terrain. There were plenty of well positioned marshalls and adequate water stops. Yummy jelly babies too! Thank you. I shall definitely be returning next year.

In short: Well run, scenic but challenging 2nd half
In full: A good route with an easy first 6 miles along the canal path, following by a more cross country 2nd half (undulations, woodland, kissing gates, cow fields etc) before returning to the canal. Good marshalling and clear route marks made it an enjoyable run.
