In short: No airs or graces, just FAST.
In full: Straightforward old fashioned race, sadly no recovery goodies except a bottle of still water but an inexpensive entry fee so no complaints. Loads of fantastic runners to compete against and a very fast course compared to the other road 10k I have previously run. So despite winter training kicking in, myself and most of the elite runners still clocked PB or SB. I was delighted to have made the trip. Wholly recommend to anyone as an end of year bonus race.

In short: Quick and Flat
In full: Not the most scenic course, park pathways, a little narrow in places, but hats off to the other runners, everybody seemed to start in roughly the right place today I had no problems with congestion (I ran the masses). Would recommend this as an end of year test to see how your looking heading into Spring Marathon training as the course has serious PB potential.

Medal was low-key, however for £8 a medal is a big bonus.

No major issues with organisation, free car parking, easy pick up of numbers and 2 wave start an excellent idea on this course.

Organizers kept us updated on the runners world forum regarding the snow/ice risk for those travelling some distance.

All in all worth a go, no outstanding features other than a considerable chance of bagging yourself an early Christmas present in the shape of a big PB, and that has surely got to be worth it?!?!?

In short: Worth the asking price!
In full: Good points: Nice warm tent at start for baggage/waiting. Mile markers spot on, in correct positions. Loads of parking. Early update on whether race was going ahead via website. Pre-race info & directions. Optional charge for medal....excellent, as medals not always wanted. Fast course.
Bad points: Very very congested start and the whole course very narrow, very difficult to overtake too with runners coming at you head on (out and back route)

In short: Great value, but what's with the markers?
In full: This is a great little course with very good PB potential and a good mix of fast and slow in the masses race. One gripe though - why does a 10k race have mile markers rather than km markers? I found that this made it difficult to pace myself during the run. It's just a small thing to change, but it would definitely encourage me to try again next time. Full marks for communication around the inevitable delay to the race due to the snow in December.

In short: I DID THE ELITE; THE 'MASS' RACE MAY BE DIFFERENT
In full: A fast route with a small field around a 2 lap course so designed for PBs.

In short: Fast course - nice PB ta!!
In full: Fast and flat (apart from one slight incline). Two laps but this does not detract from what is a good race. Splitting the elite from the rest of us was a good idea, especially when I saw who was lining up at the front of the non-elites. The track is quite narrow at some points but it was never crowded for me. There is an out and back bit which I normally do not like but quite enjoyed this one. Cheap medal at the finish is better than nothing. Chip timing would be nice as they added two seconds (big deal) to my time as they were writing numbers down as we crossed the line, but I guess not at this price.

Will do it again for another PB next year.

In short: Fast and friendly!
In full: A fast out and back flat course. The elite race starting 45 minutes before 'the masses' was inspiring but there was brilliant motivating spirit amongst the other runners too. A lovely atmosphere and a great mix of abilities - very welcoming.
