In short: Manky weather but a fast, interesting course In full: As we all decided to leave the car park at once it was a bit slow going. Fair play to the marshall who thought to turn the entrance into an exit. Date of review: March 12, 2013
In short: Perfectly flat makes for very quick run In full: Great run on a very cold day but that didnt dampen spirits. Perfectly flat leads to a very quick run. A course record for me personnly beating last years time by 30 seconds. Really enjoyed this run despite the cold weather. I will be back next year. Date of review: March 10, 2013
In short: Superb race, why would anybody moan this year? In full: I got a pb by nearly a minute, the weather was freezing but everyone was still smiling. Parking was fine, a massive field, some cars were skidding but that was due to the weather.
The course was two laps very flat and fast and the distance was spot on, i'll be doing this again next year for sure.
There were no issues with the start, this is the fastest 10k race i've ever done, nailed on pb race! Date of review: March 10, 2013
In short: More Parking issues In full: Hoped it would have been sorted from last year, but parking was challenging again. The rain and a field made it worse than last year but luckily a quicker time meant I did not suffer the worst.
Course is a solid course and good fun, but not sure its a PB'er.
The goodie bag is awful, £16 for an (virtually) empty bag with a wagon wheel in it (which I thought was very tasty), and a sponsor water bottle. Runners were very friendly but quite a few scowls from the locals who yet again seem surprised to see a herd of runners going through their village.
I think it has lots of potential, but still held back by lack of organisation, and the worst goody bag I have ever received. Date of review: March 10, 2013
In short: Good race for a first timer In full: Am writing this review three weeks after the event as having now completed my second 10k at Sherwood Forest and leaving a slightly negative feedback I feel I should balance that out by leaving a positive one for Tamworth. Course was okay, canal path was tricky enough with all the puddles and grouping together of runners, good support, bananas, fig bars and bottle of water on finish and a lovely dated/location medal in goody bag. Enjoyable first race. Date of review: November 12, 2012
In short: good for first timers and experienced In full: this was my first race so don`t have anything to compare it against, but thoroughly enjoyed it and was well marked out and marshalled. Date of review: October 16, 2012
In short: 2012 In full: This is a mixed bag of a race-reasonable mixed course, nicely marshalled and has pb written all over it (please bear in mind the race distance is suspect). The goodie bag is decidely average, The reception from the moderate crowd was great and a big old pb for me and other club members. Now for the real negatives why is the race not chipped and 24 hours later I'm still waiting for the results. I have raced three times in KP events and twice they've got it wrong and the other time it didn't matter. In essence basically the race has potential but if you're OCD about your times, think twice. In short: Enjoyable race In full: Tamworth 10K. Organisation smooth enough. Entry cost a bit steep, espacially on the day, as there can't be high policing costs that some races have to pay. PB potential and friendly for beginners as the course is vertually flat Date of review: October 15, 2012
