In short: Good race for a first timer In full: Am writing this review three weeks after the event as having now completed my second 10k at Sherwood Forest and leaving a slightly negative feedback I feel I should balance that out by leaving a positive one for Tamworth. Course was okay, canal path was tricky enough with all the puddles and grouping together of runners, good support, bananas, fig bars and bottle of water on finish and a lovely dated/location medal in goody bag. Enjoyable first race. Date of review: November 12, 2012

In short: Enjoyable race In full: Tamworth 10K. Organisation smooth enough. Entry cost a bit steep, espacially on the day, as there can't be high policing costs that some races have to pay. PB potential and friendly for beginners as the course is vertually flat Date of review: October 15, 2012

In short: Fantastic course with real PB potentilal marred by poor organisation. In full: Great course, and fortunately glorious weather, which was good given the 15 minute delay at the start. Warm Up, Cool Down, Race = Injury. Parking was good, but I got there early, and decided to leave early too as the exit looked a nighmare. Passing the slower runners in the last kilometer was badly managed and positively dangerous at times, and poor traffic management left me racing against a Merc Esate trying to get into the finish, and the timing whilst looking the part was hopelesly inacurate. The PB I was celebrating now just makes me look like a pratt! The finish seemed to have some additional mats, so the finish wasn't where the finish mat appeared to be. And finally... the profit focussed organisers don't pay for a UKA license, so your result doesn't count anyway. I don't normally criticise the races I do as I know how hard they are to put on, but these guys call themselves experts and are doing it for the money. Date of review: March 21, 2012

In short: Thoroughly enjoyed it!!!!! In full: This was my first race and paid for by my sister which coming from Scotland was a huge bonus!Found parking no problem, registered again! as my sister had my race number sent to Scotland. Found my way to the start and had great time running around the course and surprised at how many people took time to be friendly. Finished, given bottle of water to dilute my whiskey and got a medal, great day and this will encourage me to continue entering races, thanks for a great race. Date of review: March 16, 2012

In short: Organisers - how can you take people's money and sleep at night after this timing fiasco? In full: Organisers - these are the issues you need to deal with.
1 Your basic task is to get the runners' times right. My time and placings changed twice and are still not right. A lot of people's gun and chip times are exactly the same even though they could have been nowhere near the front at the start.
2 There was a mat across the run-in a few yards before the finish line that most people thought was a 'timing' mat and they therefore stopped their watches - and even stopped running. What a stupid idea to put it there.
These two things were enough to ruin this race. The worst thing is that a lot of people will probably do it again next year because of the PB potential and not because of these issues.
Organisers - if you can't do it, DON'T! Date of review: March 15, 2012
