In short: Rollercoster race through lovely country lanes In full: Did my first Elmore 7 on Saturday. Bit of a soggy start and at the start around long grassed field car park definetly tells you this will be a different race. 1st mile on nice undualting road and then it hits you. You turn off into a rollercoaster of steep ups and down country lanes and with the high hedges sheltering the roads from any breeze it was like a sauna. The Hills were leg sapping I can tell you but downhill bits let you recover just a bit. Last 3 miles back on kinder roads and big crowd to cheer you home for your medal. Great race well organised, marshalled and and will do next year. Oh and saw Kate Moss at the fair :-) Date of review: August 13, 2007

In short: Lovely scenic run even at the back of the field. In full: Lovely setting for the start and end of the race, nice scenic run over mostle country lanes. A bit up and down hills at times but what else can you expect in Surrey. Nice friendly atmosphere, well organised. Would recommend it. Date of review: July 15, 2007

In short: Hot and Hilly In full: A very well run event with a great family village fayre as well. Hills all completed by halfway so the 2nd half was nice and flat and enabled you to get some energy back. Well marshalled and while roads were open as they are country lanes traffic not a problem. Will be back next year to improve my 7 mile pb. Date of review: July 15, 2007

In short: They said this race would be "tough". They weren't joking! In full: More ups and downs than the latest ride at Alton Towers, but still fast.
The route took in plenty of narrow country lanes, with a lot of tree cover - useful today with the hot afternoon sun. The drink station was well-staffed with lots of supplies, and some friendly people cooling the runners with water spray too (thank you!).
Aside from the near-guarantee of a PB(!), what makes this race so special is the village-fete atmosphere. It's wonderful to be involved in such a traditional "English" event, with cream teas, Punch & Judy show, cakes from the WI, etc.
Huge kudos to the South London Harriers, and the organisers of the Chipstead Flower Show. Today was about so much more than just a flat-out race. It was a fun day out, and thoroughly appreciated.

In short: Good to get the hills over with before half way, and to have water just after them. In full: A very village fair type of run, with the friendliness and slightly amateur start/finish that goes with that. Unlimited water before as well as after race very welcome. Better loos than the average race. Marshals on route good. Pity that there was quite a steep camber on the road for the first mile or so and the last couple of miles, made it tempting to run in the middle of the road - but not really anything the organisers can do about that!
