In short: Disappointing In full: This race has been going for some time now but the finisher’s medal never changes. Just the ribbon date. Traffic at times was bad, got stuck behind a car polluting unfortunate runners. I know we can’t keep all roads clear but I do believe the race has gone downhill. I’ve been running this race for the past 6 years now so must have some good points but it's a 'maybe' if I run it in 2008.

In short: Disappointing In full: My chip didn't work so had no finishing time; no photos and NO APOLOGY. I was blamed for not checking my chip matched my bib number (it did match). No sports drinks on the route for either the half or full marathon. Traffic at times was awful, got stuck behind a caravan. Can't understand how this race gets a gold standard. In short: A real challenge amongst beautiful scenery and the animals of the forest. In full: This was my third New Forest (2 marathons before), it's my favourite race. The earlier start worked for me and the family, leaving the afternoon free for a trip to Bournemouth. The traffic seemed less inconvenienced than in previous years with the later start. The course isn't easy and certainty isn't flat, but I can't of anywhere I would have rather of been on Sunday morning. Even 4 mins outside my PB I felt the achievement in finishing. No goody bag but the brochure was excellent. I note that there was some doubt that this years race was going to take place - I am very glad that it did. Many thanks to all the marshalls and organisers. Date of review: September 19, 2007

In short: Still smiling - loved it, great race even with the hills! In full: Was quite worried about the hills but the scenery/course really does keep you going - great race! Even had horses cheering us on at one point, glorious. LOADS of water/sponge stations. Only one near miss with a car. Missed the Hog Roast :o( ...but my new PB more than made up for it!! see ya nxt yr :o) Date of review: September 18, 2007

In short: A good day out, saw some horses thanks to the people clapping along the way, a real boost. In full: I managed to strain my calfs 5 weeks ago so have been unable to train since then but decided to go for it any way and am really pleased I did, it was a really well run event. I had convinced myself that it was going to be dead flat all the way round (not sure why now) but there were a few hills but nothing to crazy. This is only my second race and it has spurred me on to enter more and keep on training. Thanks to all those who made it possible. Date of review: September 17, 2007

In short: Good as ever but a couple of glitches this year In full: I have done this race several times and would always recommend it. However, a few things this year were not quite right: 1 I understand completely the change of start times, but to continue to recommend train as the way to get to the race when it's not possible to get to New Milton from London before 10am is slightly silly. 2 I've never known the race start late before. It sounded as if the half starting late was a knock-on from the full, but why? What happened? 3 The fiasco over t-shirt postage. I was one of those who had to pay to collect my t-shirt.
This is a lovely race which is well-organised, with friendly marshalls, superb atmosphere, great crowd support and so on and I hope it will be back to its usual wonderfulness next year. Date of review: September 17, 2007

In short: Fab race with great supporters and gorgeous views In full: First half marathon and did this race because i love the area. I didnt expect the number of hills but was generally very impressed with the entire route. Marshals were A*, drink/sponge stations were well placed but could have done with a little more on the open parts of the course (in my humble opinion).
Overall i was very impressed with the supporting crowds in the race and the organisation at the start was well coordinated and everyone was informed. I would definitely do this race again but in my preparation put in more hill work. Date of review: September 17, 2007

In short: Beautiful course – wonderful support In full: A really great race, well organised and with wonderful support right round the course. Not as hilly as I had feared, but I do train in Winchester, so I guess it's all relative. Managed a big PB (well it was my first half marathon!) and will definitely be back next year to try and top it. Thanks to all involved. Date of review: September 17, 2007

In short: Fantastic course - spoilt by traffic In full: My first time over this course - I was expecting some severe hills, but they never came along! There was plenty of water, plenty of sponges (excellent idea), plenty of friendly support and lovely scenery. Sadly there were also plenty of morons in vehicles, one of whom pulled out onto the course, completely blocking it for a good 15s causing me to stop. Most of the motorists I saw were friendly and supportive, however. I'm looking forward to next year's race already Date of review: September 17, 2007
