In short: Did I Really Just Do That ?
In full: My first marathon, previous longest race 10 miles, thought I would have to pull out because of the dreaded IT band:runners knee, all training on a tredmill, somehow managed to finish in 3 hr 39 mins, would love to run it again ! Recommended

In short: Closing in on that PB!
In full: This was my second consecutive FLM, thanks to the good offices of HELP THE HOSPICES, who again entrusted me with one of their Gold Bond places. After my 2007 experience, I felt that I had an outside chance of finishing in less than four hours - and getting near to the time I ran in 1989, my only previous London Marathon. Fortunately, I encountered a Runner's World pacemaker about three miles from the start. He was carrying a "nine-minute miles" flag and the race plan became clear to me at that very moment - stick to him like glue. I am pleased to say that it worked - and I acknowledge that without him it would have been really difficult to break four hours! Fantastic race and I finished in 3 hours 53 minutes. A perfect day!

In short: WOW!!!!! :-)
In full: My first marathon!! Oh my god, that was a totally amazing experience!!!!! Very emotional. I didn't stop grinning for most of the first 18 miles. I loved (most of) the whole experience - all the bands, the crowds all the way but especially on the Embankment & the final mile, high-fiving the kids, the jelly babies from the Fetch Everyone gang, the jaffa cake & jelly babies from the Runner's World Gang! (Had always said I would only do the marathon once, but now....!) HURRAH!

In short: Amazing, a 26 mile street party, I forgot I was running!
In full: Without a doubt the highlight of my year, this was exceptionally well organised - my only niggle was the length of queues for the loos at the start - and the crowd support was phenommenal. My first marathon and i'm hooked.

In short: One to do. It's the London marathon Experience
In full: Works like clockwork,Cheered along all the way by supporters. Never underestimate the difficulty of getting across London, up and down the underground stairs afterwards!!! Legs took a couple of days to stop aching
