In short: Mud and hills with tea and cake, excellent!
In full: Another well organised MVP from PJC, I loved it! Slightly disappointed that we didn't go all the way to the top of Butser Hill (SSSI now), but the incredibly slippery mud towards the top of the new route up added to the challenge. Several of us were trying to hang on to the fence to stay upright - the rain (just started) was helping 'oil' the path up nicely! I did enjoy the new section on Old Winchester Hill, I think it more than made up for taking out the long, slow drag up Butser. The tea at the Butser water station was very welcome, by that point I was drenched and quite chilly! I did notice that the rum hadn't been all that popular though...
To conclude, a brilliant off-road race, lots of gratuitous hills, mud, glorious scenery, friendly and enthusiastic marshals (thank you all for your support!), well supplied water stations (love the option of cake, banana and jelly babies) and good organisation. I'm hoping to back again next year... :)

In short: hill, hill, hill, hill, rain, mud, hill, mud, rain, wind, mud, muddy hill, mud, cup of tea (mmmm), muddy rainy blowy hill
In full: The hills made this a tough race, replacing any flat bit with muddy tracks made it damn right crazy, it pretty much broke me.

Very friendly & well stocked water stations (wet jelly babies actually taste quite nice).

I'll be back to exorcise some demons.

In short: IIt was tough so I felt that I'd really achieved something worthwhile
In full: Even though at one point I was last the scenery and support of the marshalls got me going up the field. I should have worn trail shoes but it was so muddy it probably didn't matter. The rain just added to the cool feeling I got when I saw the finish. I've done it before 10 years ago but it must get better with age. Excellent day thanks to all the organisers and marshalls - well worth the effort and entry fee.

In short: This is a tuff but very rewarding race, well organised and you are well looked after all the way round with food and drink and encouragment.
In full: Very muddy and hilly, (but not as it has been in previous years i am told)I found the hills etc detracted from the fact you were running such a long distance, much more interesting than a road race. Marshalls cheer you on instaed of standing looking miserable and pointing like they do at some races. So well organised there are people to wash your shoes off at the end and undo your laces. Cakes and hot drinks at the end were great as well. Top marks Portsmouth Joggers.

In short: Mud and more mud!
In full: I have got to say this was the hardest race I have every done. It was very challenging with all those hills and running in ankle deep mud was no fun. I quit twice at 10 miles and again at 17 miles. The thing that keep me going was the motivation of other runners and the Marshall's without them I would never had achieved this race. I can't thank the sweepers enough making sure myself and George crossed that finished line. A well organised day and think after this run the London Marathon will be a breeze. Thanks PJC for a rewarding but tough day. I will be wearing my medal with pride. Trust me though I will never ever do this run again. Anyone that is up for a challenge though must give it a go it is well worth doing and the views are amazing. Good luck to all you plodders next year I will be there but as a Marshall cheering you all on.

In short: Even more mud and hills!
In full: This was my 5th MVP. I love the challenging course - even more hills this year and a very tough new path up Butser.
The real selling point of this run is the Marshalls. Hours spent standing in the cold wind and rain doesn't dampen their enthusiasm. They are always cheerful, the food and drink are legendry, especially the Rum at 18 miles.
Well done PJC, another lesson in how to put on a race.
See you next year
