In short: Scenic challenging course In full: The walk to the start was a bit treacherous but mainly due to the weather rather than lack of organistion. Great run, very scenic. Was impressed by the number of water stations handing out bottled water. As the route progressed, the marshalls encouragement became more vocal. Not a route for the faint hearted as quite hilly, however not as difficult as originally feared. In fact was only 2 minutes off my PB so all in all a good day out and will be included in my running diary. Date of review: November 26, 2008

In short: Worth the early start . . . In full: You would not expect to get a PB here . . . I did though, and I think a few others did too. Miles 10 to 12 were a bit tough / relentless, but the rest was pleasant enough. Slightly muddy getting to the start, but you couldn't really fault the excellent marshals . . . thanks to the police too . . . Date of review: November 24, 2008

In short: Worthy challenge for a first timer In full: My first half marathon. I found it a challenge, both due to the hilly nature of the course and to the weather conditions. It was so satisfying to finish inside my expected time and completing this course will give me great confidence in future races. The organisers & marshalls were superb in their support. In short: Great Half In full: Weather conditions made the walk across the field from car park to start very muddy. But race started on time and was very well marshalled with 4 water stations. Have run summer races with less water. Sponges maybe a bit over the top but that can't be a negative.
Challenging course but some nice scenic bits. Friendly local support dotted around. Date of review: November 24, 2008

In short: Very enjoyable despite the weather! In full: Undulating race, on fairly quiet rural roads. Very well marshalled - the poor marshalls must have been frozen so a big thanks to them! I did better than I expected so left very happy. I was well protected from the weather with hat, gloves & coat - certainly not a race for vest & shorts! Date of review: November 24, 2008
