In short: A Good solid race, just not a couple of minor faults In full: The Brighton half is a good solid and flat race. It is mainly well organised, the only exceptions being that the starting pen flags went up very late this year (about 15 mins before the race start) which meant a fair few slower runners had put themselves too far forward with no real time to make their way back! Also, it is very crowded after the race making your way along side the Charity Village from the Baggage drop past the finish. It would be better if they could move the village onto the beach, although of course I don't know if that is an actual viable option. That said, recommended race, with great support and a nice big medal. Date of review: February 26, 2015
In short: Not inspiring, but good atmosphere In full: This is a yearly trip down South to visit the in laws, and has a good atmosphere, but the route is not particularly interesting, and I have a constant gripe about the bottle necks trying to get to the bag drop, and the apparently worsening of organising the pens - inevitably there are 2hr runners near the front. In short: Good 1/2 In full: I've run this 3 times and intend to be back next year. I like the course, and there's good crowd support. The anniversary medal this year was huge! My slight gripes are congestion to get past the start pens and charity tents to the baggage drop, I wish they'd hand out the medals first after the finish line (thought I'd missed them), and the goody bag was a bit sad for an anniversary race (but I guess the budget went on the medal). Thanks Brighton, see you next year Date of review: February 22, 2015
In short: Great PB potential and great atmosphere In full: Really flat race, few corners, cracking atmosphere and great potential for a PB. Maybe recommend the event organisers don't have the bag drop all the way down near Concorde 2 though Date of review: March 2, 2014
In short: Another fab Brighton Half In full: Fourth time I've run this race and it never disappoints me. Fab weather again this year and great local crowd support. Fantastic medal as well Date of review: February 28, 2014
In short: Fast course - on a day with good weather! In full: Enjoyed the race as hit a PB - in part because the weather was ideal, and also the course works well with undulating in first 4 miles - and of this, downhill from 4m turn which gets the legs turning over for a straight 6m along the seafront. As with most races, need more loos - but compounded by a bottle next area between bags and start Date of review: February 28, 2014
In short: A favourite! In full: This is the third time I have done this race and it continues to be one of my favourites. The route is fairly flat with a few undulations mainly in the first 4 miles. Support is fabulous and the organisation and marshalling was also good.
Only slight criticism is the start area gets very crowded with queues for the loos and people walk to and from the bag drop area. There must be a better way of arranging this, maybe by barring non-runners from the start area.
Otherwise a great race. Date of review: February 28, 2014
