In short: Why is the 2007 race so far away!
In full: Only my 2nd marathon and having run FLM 3 weeks earlier this was definately a better 'runners race'. The course is challenging, and those inclines seem to grow on the 2nd lap.

The organisation was superb from start to finish, the marshalls where worth their weight in gold for their encouragement.

This course doesn't guarantee you a PB, but dosn't rule it out either.

Worst bit for me was exiting the field onto the main road without 1/2 mile to go, that very short descent and sharp left turn onto the main road was really tough on dead legs!

Will definately be back in 2007.

In short: fantastic- a week on i still have that glowing feeling!
In full: Really good for a first marathon, up till the autumn i had ran no further than 10K so i was a bit worried whether i should be at a marathon- would i collapse/look stupid/take ages etc. no need to worry, the atmosphere was great, so much encouragement from the marshalls and spectators i felt like an elite athlete! managed to get a good for age time so will be able to do london, bet i wont get a boiled sweet thrust into my hand by a lovely marshall when i am struggling at 24 miles there!

In short: Friendly locals, pretty rural landscape, undulations made it a challenge
In full: This was my first marathon and I'm pleased that I didn't go for a city race. The undulations felt like extra work however I finished slightly faster than my predicted time (3:27 as opposed to 3:30), so I'm not sure how much difference they make! Will definately consider doing this again - thanks again to all concerned with organising this gem!

In short: a great experience, top notch organisation and very friendly
In full: this was my first marathon and thoroughly enjoyable. Lots of encouragement along the way from marshalls who were very supportive. Had my own drinks on the water stations which worked really well.

The "undulations" were not as bad as I had anticipated and surprised myself with a sub 3.30. Lots of support from other runners along the way during my moments of need.

Well done to all the organisers

In short: My first marathon, despite the nasty sleeping policemen and undulating nature of the course, it was a great entry into marathon running. I would definitely recommend this, the marshals were great, organisation was faultless...a great day out, thanks

In short: As friendly a race as you could wish for
In full: Quite why London is over-subscribed several times over each year and only 300-odd turn up for Halstead has always been a mystery to me. I do both each year but if I had to choose Halstead would win hands down.

In short: Another well organised marathon.
In full: This was my 2nd visit to Halstead and won't be my last. We had great weather, great marshalls and friendly support. The jelly baby stations were great.

In short: Ups and downs, but far more highs than lows....
In full: A very good race, and well organised. Very friendly atmosphere. Quite a tough course - 'undulating', I think the description said. I PB'd by a minute (3:20) so I can't complain.

In short: Best marathon experience of my 110 marathons!!!!
In full: I have run many-big city, etc-but this was the very best, grass roots running at it's best. Fantastic marshalls, race organisation cannot be knocked. I'll be back next year for my second Halstead. A big thank you to the race organisers.
