In short: Wow, I can't rate Halstead Marathon highly enough. In full: Goodness, gracious, me. Halstead Marathon was such a super duper race- it really blew me off my feet.
I can’t rate this marathon highly enough. The organisation was faultless, the marshals fantastic, the spectators fabulous and the medal was one of the finest.
The Race Director did a first class job; he made this a successful and wonderful marathon. This was a pretty tough road marathon. It had many hills some of them were gigantic. There were plenty of friendly Marshals, Army cadets and supporters. This was not chip- timing but nevertheless the race result was up very quickly. There were plenty of water stations.
Thank you to the kind gentleman who tried to fill my drinking bottle before it was whisked away, out of his hands. I can’t believe I did not have to queue for the loo. It makes a change for once.
In fact runners, when it comes to Halstead Marathon - I can only say I saw no evil, I spoke no evil and I heard no evil. It was a first class medal, lovely t- shirt and decent goody bag.
Thanks to the Marshal who shouted out that Bromley Veterans have the best running club Vest. Thanks for that- there is a fiver in the post! What a weekend I had! Thanks for all your support everyone :-)
Well done Halstead Marathon- ranked 28th in UK Runners World 2009 Top 50 races.

In short: Great Marathon for Newbies In full: Everything on the day was perfect. I had no problems with the event. Weather had been perfect, route was scenic, support was magnificent, Cadets and Marshals were very very friendly and willing to go that extra mile with runners. Credit goes to the organisers and volunteers on the day.
Looking forward to return to this event next year and hopefully will see some of the runners who helped me get through my dreaded calf problem. Date of review: May 17, 2010

In short: An undulating course through the essex countryside In full: Arrived at the venue without incident and was happy with the facilities that were on offer, better than some places that i have run in.
The course was fairly hilly and was well marshalled with a range of drinks and food at the many drinks stations. The option to have your own drinks delivered to those stations was also a nice touch, it reminded me of the elite runners at the London marathon!
I did not have my best experience due to "1ll health" so i will have to return again to run it properly.
Sincerely thank you to all involved in the setup and running of the event and all the support of my fellow runners. Date of review: May 14, 2010

In short: Great event - fantastic organisation and marshalling In full: This was my first marathon and I did find the course challenging, particularly the last 4 miles. The organisation is fantastic, the marshalling enthusiastic and the spectators really encouraging - loved the jelly babies ! Quality medal and t-shirt. I will be back, if I can work out how to reduce the pain of those last few miles. Date of review: May 12, 2010

In short: Superb In full: This was my 1st Halstead & I would endorse all of the positive comments made by others. The organisation is second to none & the marshalls, cadets & supporters were fantastic - thanks for all the jelly babies & biscuits! The course is picturesque & sufficiently challenging to keep it interesting (it's undulating not hilly). It's the little touches that set this apart from other races - great medal & T-shirt, well thought out goody bag, personalised numbers & drinks delivered to drinks stations - a race organised by runners for runners. Thanks to everyone at HRR for organising such a superb event. Can't wait until next year. Date of review: May 12, 2010
