In short: What a great slog!
In full: This was my first foray into cross country running, ever, and my 2nd ever half (my first two weeks earlier).

What can I say about this event, well firstly next time I do it I'm going to be wearing more appropriate footwear, my usual road going trainers made it hard work. Secondly I'm going to get some more trail experience in now that I've had my eyes opened to it!

The scenery was fantastic, I really loved it and was grinning inanely for the first 8 or 9 miles and laughing away at each new challenge.

Everyone was very friendly, the event was run smoothly and efficiently. I will be back to do this next year, I loved it.

In short: Enjoyable jaunt around the Downs above Emsworth
In full: Great little event using paths and tracks around Forestside/Chawton area. A couple of tough chalk hills, esp. that climb up to the top of Chawton Down. What views though! Plenty of friendly marshals and signs but where the route turns off a main track the signs need to be placed in better places i.e to be clearly seen from many meters away not when you are right on the turn. 2nd and 3rd men went wrong but caught me up quick. Apart from that superb.

In short: Tough, scenic course, great organisation, good prize list, bargain!
In full: Highly recommend this race to anyone who likes a challenge. Great scenery, tough course in places, smooth organisation, friendly marshalls, plenty of drinks stations. Nice setting for start and finish and a great tea-room nearby for lovely cakes afterwards!

Have done this race a few times and the now dis-continued short course. Almost entrirely off-road with a few ups and downs, but nothing too steep. Nice flattish 2 miles along quite lanes near the end. Slight change to course this year, which was nice, but just needed a re-think on some of the route signs as not very clear and easy to miss.

Very good range of category prizes and everyone gets a medal.

Access to clean toilets, although maybe could do with a few portaloos. However, no huge queues!

Mark this event in running diary as a 'must-do' sometime as it will be worth it. You'll not be disappointed.

Many thanks to all the organisers, Marshalls, and helpers for putting on this event and standing out in the rain. Much appreciated.
