In short: Out and back 10k, mostly flat, good for a PB. Large number of entrants so a little cramped at the start. In aid of help the aged so the slightly steep price was worth it!

In short: Have run for many years and it's a race I will continue to put in the diary - brilliant
In full: A surprising couple of organisational glitches this year but still one of the best 10ks around.

In short: Poor organisation at the start, too narrow at the finish
In full: I was looking forward to this to get a new PB - which I did so was pleased.

However at the start they were saying on the tannoy to get into the right timing slow but the bands for this were too small, and it was very hard to get through the barriers to start. It needed a good 100m for each 5 minute time band. If these were then printed on the numbers and checked it would have improved the situation.

I started at sub55 (finished in 52:30) and was overtaking people for at least 4km.

The water station at 5km would have been better if on both sides of the road so it would have been less congested, the briefing notes said there would be nectar energy gels as well but I didn't see any.

At the end after the sliproad the course narrowed to 1 lane with traffic in the left hand lane. When I came through (just under 1h from the gun) it was very busy with lots of jostling for position and no space for a sprint finish.

A good course that has maybe got a bit too popular and they have allowed too many applicants.

In short: It's for PBs not scenery but they dropped a bomb this year on organisation
In full: Love this race for its PB potential which I achieved spectacularly. It's not a scenic race in any way. You don't really see much of the abbey.

The one gripe I have this year is tried to get into the area next to the town hall to meet a mate but to solve the baggage queues they extended the fencing too far and I gave up after walking for ages without ever getting near to entering the area. Marshals around here were useless and didnt seem to know what they were doing to say the least. I got my M size t-shirt so can't comment on this.

I got in the starting area at the last minute and ended up in the sub 35 part. Worried, being a 38min runner that I would be in the way of slightly faster runners but I passed around 50 slower runners in the first 1k with a lot of weaving and can't remember anyone passing me all race. I ran 37:42. People be realistic how fast you are.

They must get back to previous years organisation.

In full: I got a P.B. so am over the moon.

I run this race every year as it is a good cause and not far from home. However, the whole course seemed really congested this year so much so that I couldn't manage a sprint at the end which I love doing normally.

Despite the announcer at the beginning repeatedly asking people to start in the correct starting areas this seemed to be largely ignored which made it necessary to do an awful lot of "weaving".

As it stands I think that this race is at full capacity - if they allow anymore entrants it will not have P.B. potential which I believe is one of the main attractions of this race.

I liked the techncial tee shirt this year and I would like to thank all of the volunteers who were marshalling etc as there was a definite nip in the air!!

In short: Meggle please?
In full: 4th go ate the abbey dash, first time I've got slower, but started a bit further back as the start area was full from well in advance of the race - was this also the warm up area or something?! Fair bit of weaving on the run itself, and the final run in is congested due to narrowing down to one lane.

The finish area was very congested, lots of runners not really able to go anywhere, from other comments needs sorting and would rather have a medal than another "technical" t. Nice to get a for goodness shakes at the finish and a good near end of the year run in spite of some of the issues that seem to have crept in this year, but it has become a big run now with a lot of first timers.

In short: May not be the best organised but would run again
In full: Done a handful of times and would continue doing again, could be biased by the fact I only live less than 10 minutes from the start! Another PB after all these years, but like any relatively big races, there's a lot of weaving around all through the 10km, not just at the start!

Read they were giving out Nectar gels at 5km (which was new I think, don't remember this from previous years. However, did not notice any such gels being given out!

My gripe about the technical T-shirts is that, was there actually a size S, as there were only medium T-shirts available, and I had ticked small on my application, but now can't wear my way-too-large medium to run in, but felt I can't complain as I actually got a T-shirt compared to those who didn't, although they can now write in and asked for the right size!

I agree with the others that the finish was poorly staffed, there was a sign and a bucket on the floor for the chips, but unless you know where to look for it, there is no one to tell you where it is.

Would love to have medals again, they were given out many years ago, but not in the recent years.

Overall, I wasn't too bothered by the organisational issues, maybe because I ran it a few times already and saw past these issues. Will definitely do it again.

In short: Good race let down by poor organisation
In full: The route was fast and mostly flat, but apart from the Abby not very interesting. It would be great for getting a PB if there weren’t so many slower runners starting at the front. I had to dodge round people walking in the first 500 meters. Organisation at the end was terrible with too many people for the size of the finish area. Nice T-Shirts but running out in under an hour is unacceptable and let to a lot of disappointed people.

In short: pluses and minuses
In full: I got a pb which was good for me and considering the thousands doing it, the organisation was not that bad personally speaking. However I cold not get to my green pen unless I jumped over the barrier- I arrived well early too. Feel sorry for the guys who did not get a T shirt- no excuse for that as there were no entries on the day. Could not attempt to sprint for the finish and lost a few seconds there, due to the narrow run in before the finish area. However its all for a good cause and the sunny weather helped lift the spirits.
