In short: chaos at the start In full: walkers less than a mile from the start on narrow road now told to move to the side so held everyone else up. very abusive when you tried to squeeze past. £39 this year 2005 you must be joking !! Date of review: March 8, 2005

In short: makes for a good weekend break In full: really scenic around Edinburgh and down to the coast, but then depressingly dull and shadowy back from Leith to the city. centre Date of review: December 31, 2004

In short: Chaotic at the start. Scenic first third, pretty dull middle third, picked up again in the final third. Challenging route. In full: The start of this years marathon was total chaos. The spectators were not properly separated from the runners and the runners were lined up at the start with wildly differing abilities. All that said once underway everything was well organised. The route was as challenging as the previous years. I was glad that the organisers decided to run out and along the coast in the opposite direction. One other thing is I would have liked to have seen more waterstations providing energy drinks.
All in all it was a very enjoyable race. Date of review: September 16, 2004

In short: Route breathtakingly beautiful in places boring in others - race organisation was fine. In full: I found race organisation including baggage was fine. Seemed to be more bands on course than last year which was great. Hills towards end more of a problem than Arhthur's seat at start.Pasta party a complete disgrace. Can't course make more of Edinburgh centre - lots of miles in uninspiring suburbs and sea front.I love Edinburgh so I'll be back no matter what!

In short: The hills are a bit of a killer, especially if it's your first marathon - and they ran out of energy drink very early on. Grr! Date of review: August 31, 2004

In short: The start was CHAOS. People were still in toilet queues when the start happened. The queue for the baggage tent was enormous In full: people were still in it when the race started. Could have been organised better. At the end - people and crowds were pushing you about as there was no cordoned off area for finishers ! No small tshirts left either which is what I had ordered ! Dissapointed to say the least Date of review: August 31, 2004
