In short: marshalls and spectators were fantastic.
In full: felt obliged to put a new entry down - couldn't fathom out how to edit previous rating which was rather scathing.
The marshalls and volunteers did a brilliant job as did the spectators who were along the majority of the route. Well done!
However, now I have calmed down, I still won't be doing it ever, ever, ever again!!
Oh and for some reason, it won't let me put yaer as 2008.

In short: Great Marathon
In full: Course is fantastic, although the strong easterly didn't help. Organisation is very professional. Personally I don't like marathons congested with relay runners, but that is my only complaint

In short: Good organisation but bring back the city centre course!
In full: Course changes were understandable given 2006 issues with the local authority but while the trip to East Lothian was scenic (in parts) it resulted in a 13 mile slog against the wind. Anyone running the relay didn't get to set foot in Edinburgh, bit of a shame. Relay pens could have been better organised (why allow runners' friends and relatives to join them in the pen & clog it up?) & the finish was a little crowded.

In short: Fsat PB course, good scenery and a grandstand finish
In full: Horrible weather, but you can't blame the organisers for that, and the tailwind from 16 miles on helped me to a nine minute PB. Good spirit on the way round sharing the work into the wind (big thanks to no Kevin Tulloch and Ingo Kloever for that). I thought the marshalls were the best I've seen in my 11 marathons - friendly and full of encouragement on a day when they should have been in front of a nice warm fire. The course is definitely fast if it's not too windy, and the scenery along the coast is lovely, even if the crowds are a bit thin at that point. I'd recommend it to anyone which is about as good as it gets for a race.

In short: I love this place. Third year. PB. Shame about the wind and rain, but you can't have it all.
In full: The route isn't as scenic as the past 2 years, but was definitely quicker. It got a bit desolate towards the far point, and I wasn't told to do a u turn until past the turning point, that was the only annoyance. Shame not to finish in holyrood, but the cheers at Musselborough were amazing. The scots truly are awesome supporters and I'm training for 2008 already.
