In short: Never done one of these before. Atmosphere great. Plenty of marshals supporting - you'd be lost without them on the cycle paths. No steep inclines. Best of all for me- it's local and easy to get to.

In short: Cycling is obviously a big thing in Stevenage
In full: An enjoyable race. The up and down cycle paths were challenging and got progressively more so as the race went on. A nice fine drizzle to keep the temperature down and the pace up. Was particularly impressed with the lead marathon runner who came steaming past at about the 4 mile mark for the half marathoners - about 17 for him. I was still feeling fresh and reasonably quick at this stage - he made me feel like I was walking. I've not run with an elite athelete before and I managed all of 10 seconds with him. Respect.

In short: intimate introduction to the bike paths of a northern suburb
In full: A bit too up-and-down it felt like there was never a flat step to be had on this course ... not steep undulations but just annoying enough to make the calves ache from about mile 8 onward.
