In short: Flattish course means chance of a PB although some of the markers seemed inaccurate. Scenery was probably ok but dense fog meant all you could see were ghostly runners 100m ahead!

In short: nice flat course but half of it is on an airfield with no scenery and you can just see everyone beating you which could be disheartening for a beginner. Take a friend and chat your way round as a training run.

In short: Good atmosphere back in the club house...with great tea and bacon butties !
In full: the race venue was well sign posted from just off the Mway junction with plenty of friendly marshalls as we got close to the sports centre to guide us to the ample parking places.

The sports centre had plenty of room to get changed, and even smelt like a proper winter event venue...that unique mixture of wet towels, sweat and wintergreen linament found in real sports centres every where. It was bitterly cold but there was plenty of common sense shown by the organisers in keeping veryone inside until the last possible moment, then it was straight down to the start and we were off into the dense fog.

Despite visibility that got down to less than 50 yards (not metres...I am a Vet) the event was well marshalled and there was no chance of getting lost as we pounded through the lanes and round the local airfield.

The finish was well organised with the prizes right by the end of the funnel which was comfortably close to the club house not get cold. The final touch was to serve hot cups of teas and bacon butties...very welcome.

I have done a few larger events (2000-3000 runnrs)in the last couple of years and this was my first small local race (approx. 200-300 runners). The whole atmosphere was very welcoming and this race has set the standard for my expectations for other smaller local events and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I will be back next year.

In short: I really enjoyed this run (my 3rd 10k) in spite of the fog and cold. I achieved a personal best at this race, and I'm looking forward to next year.

In short: Shame about the fog - it was a really good race.
In full: very very flat - wonderful route. My second 10k and so much better organised, welcoming and marshalled than the Nike 10k. Improved my pb by 4 mins (not much in percentage terms, but still improvement!!) Very friendly. Really liked it.
