In short: quite challenging
In full: Nicely organised race, lovely marshalls, bit of a clubby feel, but that wasnt intentional its just that a lot of the local clubs ran it! felt like you were all in it together. Nice to get a keepsake mug instead of the usual medal or t-shirt (my husband is jealous!). Pretty hard work, given the mud, lots of slippy rutted tracks, and muddy fields, and hards slogs along country lanes. but think i got away lightly as apparantly it has been a lot worse in previous years!
not sure if i would do again, but only because its a 2 hour drive from where i live!

In short: Fab
In full: A great offroad race, a couple of inclines and plenty of mud what more could you ask for.
Well done to all the marshalls and the organisers I really enjoyed it and will be back next year.

In short: Sun ,frost, mud...and a little bit of World Heritage
In full: Starting from the World Heritage site of Avebury and its famous ring of stones, this 8 miler winds its way off road across the Wiltshire countryside mostly on rutted field and farm tracks. This year the weather had been quite kind for some days before, and on the day itself we were treated to warm (for November) sunshine with some heavy early morning frost. As a result the mud quota was probably relatively low in comparison to other years, but still sufficient to be a challenge. I'd rate the terrain as long up/down slopes rather than full-on hills, so a good race for those who want to try trail/off road running. Excellent organisation and marshalling, and the mug (rather than T shirt etc) was a very welcome change to usual race offerings. Well done Marlborough Running Club.

In short: A great race...
In full: ...but could be tougher!! Maybe due to "mud-alley" being withdrawn, but the rutting and muddiness of some of the tracks made it technical enough and some nice open track allowed speed to bebuilt up to compensate. Nice & friendly and a great mug, different colour to last years, so what's next years colour? See you next November!

In short: Bliddy H&S bods!
In full: Conditions this year made for a very fast race, not far off my road time. Hope there's loads of rain before next years! Organistion is brillant, The momentoe is something that gets used throughout the year and the marshalls are all ready to have the craic with you. This is a highly reccomended race, you just have to be very quick to get in.

In short: Can't think of a better way to spend an autumn Sunday morning
In full: Very well organised, friendly run. Guess it could have been tougher after heavy rain, but you can only run what's there and today it was smooth as silk. I definitely hope to come back next year. And I really appreciated the Avebury 8 mug as a memento.

In short: A great off-roader, highly recommended!
In full: Second time I've run the Avebury-8 & I'll be back next year.
Shame the local council dealt the Health & Safety card and we lost 'Mud Alley' this year, but it didn't detract from a lovely scenic run. Excellent organisation once again!

In short: A great atmosphere!
In full: This is the first time that I've run this race and I was impressed with the organisation and friendly marshals.

The prizes were generous - covering all bases. Also, all competitors received a fab mug as part of the entry fee.

Personally, I would have preferred a course that was a little more 'technical'. At times I felt I was running a road 10k and I'm getting too old for that mularky!

I would recommend this as being perfect for those who want to run their first multi-terrain race.
