In short: Love this race, will be back again next year In full: My third outing in 4 years as injured last year and somehow managed to PB by a country mile which considering the hills was totally unexpected.
As usual the marshals were first class and really encouraging when you needed that little lift after a long climb, well done guys.
My only gripe as I have found in previous years is that the start was again a bit of a shambles with no one really aware that the race had begun further back in the field. The new start line also confused some people. That said it didn't spoil the race for me and I'm already looking forward to next year. Date of review: November 22, 2012

In short: Undulating; but not too bad In full: not much to add that others haven't. hills in the first half are long rather than steep. like the bright yellow mug that was given as a prize! Date of review: November 19, 2012

In short: Nice enough! In full: The start of this race took a lot of people by surprise not only was there no warning a lot of people thought it was going to start in the opposite direction! After that it was a fine if uneventful course. Shame that there was so much traffic - fairly dangerous at some points (that was the drivers not runners fault) which was a shame. Nice memento at the end and one water stop in my opinion is plenty for a 10 miler.
All in all good, but not amazing. Date of review: November 19, 2012

In short: Well organised race, no gimmicks but a real challenge In full: This is certainly a real "runners race" - on a challenging course with no gimmicks or goody bags but just the pleasure of a well-organised event. The course is hilly but fair and although the all-road course was certainly not traffic free it was well marshalled and the drivers who I came across were perfectly courteous and much of the course had decent pavements anyway. The field was of a high standard (the 2 hour cut-off is not unreasonable for a 10 mile race and I could see the reasoning for it on safety grounds) but not intimidatingly so for average runners. I liked the choice of a pen or mug as a momento. Date of review: November 19, 2012

In short: Enjoyed In full: Thanks to all the marshals and volunteers today and all at Epsom & Ewell Harriers for putting this race on. Playful 10 miles around Epsom and enjoyed it plenty. Date of review: November 18, 2012

In short: Scenic 10 mile race, challenging but manageable even for first timers! In full: This was my first time running a 10 mile race and I really enjoyed it. Start was a little confusing and appear disorganised, I would suggest improving signage at the start line next year would avoid any confusion for first timers like myself. Other than that, thoroughly enjoyed it and obtained an even better time than I anticipated. Date of review: November 18, 2012

In short: A great race but by imposing a two hour cut off our club felt it was not a very inclusive race for our inclusive club. In full: This race is great - pretty hilly, lovely scenery and great marshaling, but what a shame imposing a two hour cut off for a half marathon. Only four of our club ran it today (because we paid), the usual 20 remaining went elsewhere in protest and we've removed it from our club races listing. If the cut-off is imposed again for 2013 the field is going to shrink even further - it was smaller than usual today. It was one of my favourite races, but now it's not inclusive... In short: Nice route and luxurious race HQ at the race course. In full: First half was fairly hilly but all downhill (pretty much) from there. Actually set a new PB here beating my time at the (very flat) Great South Run a few weeks earlier. No spectators but friendly enough marshals and a nice mostly tree-lined route. Some more signs directing people to the car park would have been nice and maybe a slightly more impressive finish line would be a nice touch, but not vital. One water stop at 5 miles was a minimum but seemed to do the trick I guess. Nice mug or pen choice as a memento (never thought I'd say this but big events aside I have enough medals now!) Chip timing would be nice as well so there are some ways to improve the event, but it's a nice enough run that's apparently faster than it at first seems! Date of review: November 18, 2012
