In short: Good race well organised
In full: My first 1/2 for twenty years! Got the bug back. Well organised and marshalled. Good drinks stations. Crowd all round route great.
I am doing my 1st ever marathon here again this year!

In short: It had taken me long enough to enter my home-town race but it was well worth it. Rumer Hill is, and always will be, a bit of a killer - as is the Greenway (long, flat, boring!) Definitely entering again and looking for a good improvement on time.

In short: fantastic support by the local villagers especially the chap with the sound system and deck chair at the end of his drive!
In full: This is a special Half Marathon as it was my first race. Admittedly i was dreading the hill after reading reviews from previous years but i actually needed someone to confirm that i was running up it as it didn't seem that bad at all! Surprisingly the Greenway took more of a toll out of me as it just seemed to go on for eternity. Plenty of water/sponge stations too. I was looking at running the course in around 2hrs but having a pushy/pacey husband with me we ended finishing it in 1hr50mins. Would most definitely run it again next year. It's just a shame that the entry fee is a bit steep, with no goody bag either.

In short: My local event. Very enjoyable & good PB potential. Excellent support from spectators & stewards - thank you! Will be back next year. Can we have timing chips please?
In full: This was the second year I have done this and I managed to knock 15 min off last year's time so was very pleased! (Due to my super-speedy friend Sarah pacing me round!) It is my local race, so I train on the course & am very familiar with it. I enjoy the scenery, & the support through the villages is superb (especially the man in Luddington playing 'YMCA' to us!) I'm not a big fan of Rumer Hill (especially the leg crunching descent) but the view from the top is well worth it.
The atmosphere is always good, as is the support from the stewards & people at the water stations. It was much better with the earlier start time this year, though I do think the organisers should introduce timing chips to avoid the crush at the start. (It is roughly the same price to enter this race as it is to enter the Cardiff Half & THEY provide timing chips!) I loved the medal this year too! Will definitely be back next year!

In short: Nice, fairly flat course - well signed
In full: I thought there'd be more 'entertainment' for supporters and family for such a 'big' event - especially given the venue! The course was well marshalled and plenty of water/sponges. I was a little disappointed with 'NO GOODY BAG' given the entry fee of £22 !! Just a bottle of water and a banana...pretty poor I think.

In short: A good day out, but I died of boredom on the Greenaway
In full: The start was slightly chaotic but as I am not a fast runner it didn't bother me, I almost came a cropper over some bollards which we weren't alerted to it was only that a runner in front of me made me aware. I enjoyed the run though, and thank you to the man playing his stereo and to all the others who encouraged us plodders. I would have welcomed more supporters on the Greenaway, surely the most boring stretch in any race I have entered. At least I managed to run up the hills (I hate hills I enjoyed my day and work permitting will enter again, and hopefully will do a better time. It's the only race I've entered where I've been able to park right beside the start!

In short: There was good support throughout the race, which boosted me in the latter miles. My first half-marathon and I would recommend it highly!
