In short: Tough hills for a beginner but well worth the effort
In full: Event was very well managed with the option afterwards to have your medal engraved which made a nice change and boy was the medal huge and shiny. Dont know if there is PB potential here as there are some testing hills but netherless, it was a good day, nice weather and well worth the trip out into the countryside.
The canal section is challenging as it is uneven but it makes the whole thing seem like two runs rather than one long run and breaks it up nicely.

I cant wait to do it again next year!

In short: once on the canal path it was fine
In full: Enjoyable 12k, great once off the narrow roads, seeing 7k at 7 miles was a strange feeling. No timer was also disappointing. Nice medal though and goodies.

In short: Great undulating race with an unusual distance
In full: I really enjoyed this challenging race. The marshalls were great, the scenery was fantastic, and my time shocked me!!

Very tough climb at 7 miles but downhill finish which helps. Slippery steps towards the end!!

In short: Steep hill at 6.5 miles but otherwise good mix of gradual inclines and flat running
In full: I really enjoyed this race. Had expected it to be hillier than it was so pleasantly surprised. My Garmin measured the distance as 8.34 miles so definitely further than advertised. Found the towpath surface quite uneven so had to be extra careful running alongside the canal but was a well organised race with some very encouraging marshalls along the route. Don't think some of the cars were too happy about all the runners in the road in the first 3 miles but most were careful as they passed by. Last hill at 6.5 miles was hard going and it then seemed to take an age getting back down to the finish - distance markers certainly weren't all accurate.

In short: A very enjoyable, well organised and challenging race
In full: incredibly this race is only in its 2nd year but already feels like a well etablished event, the course is challenging with almost equal sections of road, trail and hills and virtualy traffic free. 2.09 should be congratulated for organising a first class event with a friendly welcoming atmosphere, I will certainly be back again next year!

A little lonely along the canal path for the tail enders but had a very enjoyable run. Weather was perfect.

In short: A bit of difference from the norm
In full: Unusual type of race . Half on a seconary type of A-road and half on the tow path of a senic canal . Plenty of slight undulations esp. on the locks of the canal. There could have been more signs and a couple more marshals halfway along the canal . Here I was not sure I was going the right way . I think there might have been a local who removed a few signs . Othere than that a well organised event well worth doing . Plenty of car parking and toilets and an interesting route with a good run in.
Thank you Mike.
