In short: not bad race, good for LM preparation. organisation could have been better. In full: running the extra 800 meters due to mix up not great and too many queues for drinks, loos etc. Date of review: March 13, 2006

In short: Well organised and friendly In full: Due to a mistake with the lead car, the course was about half a mile longer than it should have been... Can't say I noticed but was impressed to receive an email telling me so on the very same day. This was sent to all runners (640 plus). It felt like someone cared... Date of review: February 28, 2006

In short: Much fun - I was chuffed to find I'd run further than 13.1 miles! In full: Really enjoyed the race and echo others' sentiments about the great lengths (quite apt, I think) David Hollingworth has subsequently gone to to make sure we all had a pro-rated time. Friendly people and ups and downs in the course made it more interesting than the rest of the scenery might suggest. Will be back next year.

In short: Very friendly folk ran, and organised this race. In full: I was just happy to hear that I hadn't done my PW by over 10 minutes! A bit of a disappointment though, all things considered. Date of review: February 28, 2006

In short: Once you got started you soon warmed up In full: Not being a very fast runner found it very rewarding that over 5 minutes was taken off my time!!! I think the organisers did very well in letting everyone know so quickly that they had run too far and I will definitely be there next year.
I have been on so called prestigious runs paying three times as much to enter to find they have run out of water, had to walk over half a mile for your medal after the race and people have even died out there. Date of review: February 28, 2006

In short: A bit of a mixed bag! In full: The incorrect distance was a disappointment at the time, but most people - well those sticking to split times - realised something was amiss and just got on with it. Top marks to David Hollingworth for then going to the hassle of recalculating correct times. Although the course is run through rather dull suburbia, the hills and variety of different roads kept it fairly interesting. Quite dangerous in parts though - particularly when a dog escaped from its owner's clutches and chased three runners for about a mile - as the course isn't traffic-free and most drivers weren't very considerate. All in all a fairly good race, but you would expect a little more from a club of the calibre of WG&EL. Date of review: February 27, 2006

In short: Everyone makes mistakes In full: Apart from the distance mistake for my second half marathon I really enjoyed this race.
I felt good the whole way round and although the scenery wasn't up to much I didn't go to check out Chigwell!
It was well organised and the marshals were great support.
I will be back next year. Date of review: February 27, 2006

In short: Disappointing about distance being measured wrong. In full: Firstly a big thank you to David the race director for holding his hand up to the problem of race distance being wrong.
I really enjoyed the undulating course, which was good for my Beachy Head marathon training. I will be back next year if I can. Date of review: February 27, 2006

In short: Only disappointment - was the whinging at the end!! In full: Yes - a mistake was made with the route Yes - there were a lot of roadworks and possible bottlenecks as a result Yes - it was cold
Personally, I really enjoyed this race - It would have been nice to have run the measured course - but the fact that the organisers, and expecially the Race Director (who must have felt his whole world caving in today) recognised the error - ensured that it was the same for everyone and thereby ensuring that it was a legitimate race - and have undertaken to make it as right as they can in the circumstances - is just brilliant. It's a great course - I obliterated my PB on it today - even at the 13.6 - 13.7 miles that it turned out to be! So the corrected time (Thanks for doing that David) is just ACE!!! I'll certainly be back!
Oh - and being able to run events like this is a privilege, not a right.
As I said - the REAL disappointment, was the bellyaching!
