In short: Lung Busting
In full: This was my first off road event, and my first with anything like the kind of hills the course has. It's tough, but once the (extremely serious) elites head off into the distance it was a fun race full of supportive runners (and marshalls). It was only 9.3k by my Garmin, which I was very glad of by the end, but was a bit of a surprise, and they could have done with more water being available at the finish, but a great morning out. I'll be back next year.

In full: This is a great course. I enjoyed it and improved on my 2009 time by 9 minutes (that's no typo). I thought the start and finish swaps from last years race was a bit mad though, didn't see anyone fall on the last 500m but bet it happened because there was heavy competiton for the first 30 places. IMO - should start the race on that hill not finish on it. Superb nonetheless.

In short: Good to get the lungs going on a Saturday morning
In full: The hills are a decent test of stamina and the fact that some of the ascents are on loose sand makes it a great challenge. Forget a PB though!

In full: I love off-road running and this is the toughest 10k race I have done. The downhills are quite thrilling, and the ups very testing although I was pleased to have been able to keep running.
Excellent organisation.

In short: an easy intro to AAT events
In full: having scaled the hills to St Marthas a few times during the G3 series earlier in the year this seemed easy by comparison. the guys at AAt always turn out a challenging course, and this was no exception. plenty of climbs on good forest trails with the occasional sprinkle of sand to steal the last of your reserves. free goodness shakes and banana, and a sense of acheivement are a great substitute for a medal. try it, you might like it.
