In short: A very challenging hilly race, not for the faint hearted!
In full: I ran this race in January 2011, this was the first race I have ever entered into. You may ask why the hell would you want to enter a 10 mile race as your first race!? Well, simple answer, I was over confident and neive! But!, never the less I ran the hilly route which takes you through lanes and country side. The support from marshals was excellent but I would suggest adding more water stations in 2012. (I will be running in 2012) The final few miles is all up hill which caught me out a bit and slowed me down but for my first ever race and a time of 1:22:06 I was pleased. Next year I'll be looking to blast the hills and beat my time. A nice medal recieved at the end and the feeling of real achievement! Overall a very good race.

In short: A race that runs in winter !
In full: After the cancellation of Buntingford 10 I was glad that the weather was kind for Fred Hughe 10. The start was a bit of a mess (aka Cross Country) even at the front and I nearly fell on the corner. Why start with a U bend I found this strange ? Anyway once the race was underway it starts off quickly and you can build into the race. I managed to beat my PB for the distance. A well run race by a local club so a "proper" club runners race.

In short: Excellent chocolate muffin
In full: I hope someone reads these comments and fixes the start and timing issues. Nice route, cheerful marshalls.

In short: Great race and Great medal!!
In full: Apart from what has been said about the start, which has been clearly shown so no longer needed to be mentioned, you can't fault the route and the atmosphere on the course.

Marshals were all brilliant and really encouraging (definitely important when doing a local race like this), the running on country lanes was great and the hills were good as the benefits could be gained on the downhill.

Definitely one for the calendar and generally well executed. Well done St. Albans Striders!!

In short: Surely enough complaints about the start to improve it next year?
In full: It's a local race for me so I'm used to the course, but please rethink the start. No one wants to start at the back as it's uphill. Why not consider Bluehouse Hill? That way it's an uphill for all so there's no big disadvantage at starting further down the field. Or start at the bottom of the hill by Waitrose so everyone has to do the hill and bring the finish line forward by 200 metres to compensate?

In short: Love it!
In full: The start issues have all been mentioned, but you can't let that ruin what is a superb race. Well done and thank you to the organisers who again did a superb job. 3rd time running this - hope to be back next year. Nice medal too!

In short: Great warm-up for the Watford half
In full: A good, fun, local race. Start was a little disorganised so ended up at the back, then had to wait to pass other runners as the path was to narrow. Fantastic marshalling throughout (thank you and well done) although runners could have benefitted from some of the roads being closed. The course itself was pleasantly challenging with a couple of tough hills at the beginning and middle of the course. Definitely a great warm-up race to the Watford half marathon in 2 weeks time.
