In short: Curate's egg
In full: Nice countryside (though not as nice as the Trionium), gratt marshalling. However, all the loos ran out of paper at the start (THANK YOU TO THE NICE LADY WITH THE TISSUES), that could have meant I couldn't even start ! Also, we were lining up, 1 minute from the start and the announcer said "if you think you might be faster, you mught like to get tothe front". 1) what does "think you might be fast mean? 2) if you think you are fast, how do you climb over 200 people in one minute to get to the start ? Next time, how about streaming people ? I spent the first 50 minutes stuck behind slower runners on skinny paths, which was a shame. If I'd taken the vague advice and scrambled to the front, it might have been me holding others up ! Nevertheless, it's a nice course - challenging, good markers and superb marshalling. One of the best metals and tee shirt as well ! I feel a bit mean for the aforementioned gripes, but it did detract a bit from a lovely day out.

In short: Gem of a run - superb Surrey hills scenery
In full: Lovely run through superb surrey hills scenery. Tons of variety, hills, woodland, fields even a river stretch thrown in. Brilliant marshals. Some excellent little climbs including lovely little climb up a sandy trail to st Martha's on the mount. Massively recommended.

In short: Tough introduction to Marathons...
In full: My first full marathon, loved the first 12 miles or so then along came the hill up to St Martha's (including sand...) and things began to hurt. Several shorter hills after that were energy-sapping so the last 8 or 10 miles were fairly painful. Organisation and scenery were great, however i think my 2nd marathon will be mainly on tarmac with fewer hills :-)

In short: Lovely friendly and excellently organized race
In full: Did the half for the first time this year but will certainly be back next year for the full marathon. Big thank you to all those who gave up their time and all the food at each station was really appreciated.

In short: Fabulous, my favourite race of the year
In full: Wonderful support from the many marshalls out on the course - big thanks to each and everyone of you for giving up your time! A great race over some challenging but beautiful trails, views to die for, hills to test the legs and lungs on. Lovely medal, nice t-shirt, smooth organisation - can't rate this race highly enough. Will defintely be back next year! Well done to all involved! Loved the cakes at the end too!

In short: Who needs the beach?
In full: Surprisingly sandy course will be my over riding memory of this race, together with the plethora of brilliant marshalls, ample feed stations, excellent marked course & wonderful views. Just one nasty hill to walk up. Cruel to have all the stiles in the second half of the race. A must do marathon.

In short: Legs complained, but I loved it. Beautiful scenery, and lots of the friendliest, nicest marshalls you'll ever find. Perfect.
In full: This was my first marathon, and I ran it as a 'test' event before a boring road marathon next month. My legs complained, but I loved it. The road marathon might be easier, but will never match this event.

I've done a few races now, and the organisation here was superb, but the real difference was the shear number (on every corner of the 26+ miles), and the friendliness of the volunteers, that made this event special.

Just on the volunteers alone, it deserves to be over-subscribed every year, and given some sort of legendary status. Can't fault it.
