In short: Mad First Ever Organised Race
In full: In hindsight I was probably a bit mad signing up for this as my first ever organised run with just 3 months of training, a lifetime's history of little or no exercise and a recently kicked 30-a-day smoking habit, but I loved it!

I finished in 2hrs 22mins, which is slow in comparison to most there but my sole aim was to simply finish so I was pleased!

I've now well and truly got the running bug and have got 5 races under my belt since this one back in September.

In short: Our first ever marathon - and what a beautiful experience!!
In full: This was our first ever 42km race. It was not the easiest, but what a beautiful and meaningful pilgrimage, wonderfully-put together by a dedicated team who gave us great advice since we signed up in April (THANKS VERONICA, HILLARY AND DAVID!) The marshals and crowd were superb - and the runners (we were at the back, of course:) ) were a laugh! We enjoyed ourselves tremendously! Take a look at our report here Do join the next one! It will be rewarding.

In short: organised (very well) by sadists for masochists!
In full: Well done all round. Great scenery, marshalls, food, route with deliberate bottlenecks to let us plodders not get too far behind the speed merchants who'd trained for it. Might do the whole mara next year if the organisers can guarantee a 'day out' atmosphere...or I do some training......

In short: Uphill Sand Makes You Work!
In full: This was very well organised - I had no idea that it was a first time event. Kudos to the organisers and many thanks to the (numerous) marshalls. I would agree with the many other reviews that have highlighted the beautiful scenery and the challenging, but very enjoyable terrain. Not a criticism at all, but I would note that my Garmin measured a bit longer than a half marathon as well - 13.7 miles if I recall correctly.

In short: People were fantastic - track was a tough challenge and the unexpected hazards were new to me - overall it was worthwhile but there could be improvements by reducing hazards to make the race smoother.
