In short: Scenic, well organised, well marshelled, and lot's of hills. Well worth the considerable effort. In full: '3 Forts' was my first attempt at marathon distance and after reading the reviews for last year I wasn't sure I'd made the right decision. However, having finished in a semi respectable 4:18 I'm very pleased at my choice. The event was very well organised with marshals at every point needed, so no chance of going astray, as was suggested last year. I had a good run, to fast in the first-half to finish sub 4 hours as was my aim but I am very pleased. The scenery was fantastic even in the rain, next time I'm in this part of the world I will be having a more gentle stroll over some of the hills. An event well worth doing. In short: The “Tough One” Won’t disappoint. Fantastic Scenery and good Organisation. In full: This race is one you shouldn’t have any hesitation in doing… Yes it is tough – and Hilly, and rough underfoot in parts, and hilly, and did I mention the hills?! But the Scenery and other runners will help pick you up and get you to the finish. This race had come into quite a bit of stick previously for being inadequately marshalled, with some runners heading off route and doing their own 30 Mile circuit! No such problems this year. Marshalling was everywhere it was required, and a big thank you to the volunteers who stood for hours on end in some pretty bleak weather. There were plenty of friendly aid stations, and you get a really nice medal for your efforts. Do it! Date of review: May 3, 2006

Well organised and great to see that the organisers have taken on board the comments from us runners last year. See you in 2007 !
