In short: Nice hilly cousre to start the road race season
In full: I enjoy this race. I've done it for the past 3 years and find the hills set me up for the start of my road racing year.

So there's a 10 minute walk from the car park to the start - its good to stetch your legs after driving to the race. Treat it as a warm-up. And the toilet queues weren't as bad as many other races I've been to.

The course is great, start up hill (sorts the men from the boys early on), then out into the countryside, though a field, by a river lovely. A couple of climbs from 8k, and a drop to the finish. A slightly tight turn onto the school field at the end, but I've run worse finishes.

I hadn't even noticed the wrong date on the medal, but it's as much about the race as the medal. Shame, but never mind.

I took 1m 40s off my cousre PB, so I was happy with this run. I'll be back next year to try to better it.

In short: Enjoyed the race, good views on a hilly course, a few disappointments
In full: Sad about the 2007 medal - especially as I entered with my Dad (first 10k race) who was equally disappointed.
Organisation left a bit to be desired esp Start/Finish.
Nice course, bit hilly, some of the field/gravel track running was a bit nasty.
Not sure I'd do it again.

In short: challenging course, but fun. organisation could improve.
In full: My first 'proper' race since I was a teenager, so not much to compare it to. However, I thought the course was great fun - quite hilly but nothing too severe and I thought starting on a hill was actually a nice and unusual touch. Didn't notice the out of date medal, didn't really look at it, but slightly disappointed now I've found it. But if you're running because you enjoy running for running's sake, rather than for a PB or a medal, this is a very friendly run through some lovely countryside. Start/finish needs improving though, as do car-parking facilities.

In short: Where's the F***ing results - Having riped us off at least post the results
In full: All negatives. And not even the decency of putting the years ribbon on the medal. If i was a first timer or running for charity i would ask for a refund !

In short: Not well organised. Things in wrong place but race itself is good
In full: A long way from car parks to school.
Toilets at the school became toilets that were not available.
Long walk to the start.
Baggage storage at the start meant you had to go back on yourself at the end to retrieve kit.
Medal out of date.

In short: Not happy that the medal provided was incorrect date & year, a bit rich for the entry fee charged! !
In full: The disjointed nature of car parking, start & finish areas was annoying. Queued for 10 minutes in the designated signed toilet area at the school, then was curtly told to "Go to the start please, these toilets are closing now, there are more toilets at the start, the Head Mistress does not want you all using the toilets here" (!!) Advice to the organisers- Don't put signs up for toilets at the school then!! Went to the start loos & queued again. That said the race itself was challenging and enjoyable, the marshalling was good. There was plenty of encouraging support from the locals which was very welcome. The finish layout, however, is far too muddled & messy.

In short: Friendly atmosphere, well marshalled and challenging but interesting course. Start / finish needs tweaking.
In full: Overall a good course, well marshalled and with a great village atmosphere at the start / finish.

Minor gripes:
Starting on hill is tough and bunches the field - a run in to the hill would be better?

Start itself was a little confusing, with facilities spread over various locations linked by ginnels etc.

Finish was too twisty and difficult to judge if you hadn't run this race before.

(Slightly concerned that there were similar comments about the start / finish last for last year's race that don't seem to have been taken on board, so will send suggestions direct to the organisers too.)

More major gripe:
2007 medals for 2008 race. For some the medal is an important memento, especially if this is their first race - that was a shame.

But on a more positive note, I thought the variety and scenery the course offered was good and I would stress again the atmosphere was excellent.

In short: A hilly testing course that could do with some improvements.
In full: For me, this race is nowhere near as good as it's neighbour, the Woodcote 10k. The race is over subscribed - 1200 people starting on roads that narrow is always going to be a problem, and additionally, the finish was silly, very twisty, including one section that was through a walkway at the end of a couple of gardens.....
However, having said that, everybody seemed friendly enough, and there were no major problems. It's just that the race itself was very uninspiring.

In short: Highly recommended bumpy country run!
In full: Excellent, highly enjoyable race, beautiful scenery and a great opportunity to run in the countryside early in the year. Only gripe was the medals being labelled with the 2007 race date.

In short: A challenging course, but a good race.
In full: A picturesque course hides some demon hills! But a well run race which you gives you a sense of satisfaction after running it! The start may be a little tight for the field size, though and it was bit strange getting a 2007 medal. Thanks to the organisers.
