In short: A lovely race with great scenery.
In full: However, perhaps the finish could be rethought - I was one of the runners who failed to negotiate the speed bump just before the finish and fell flat on my face. Also, having to go in hunt of your reward once you've passed the line is rather a let-down.

In short: Great course, but a few things could be better
In full: Not done this for a couple of years, but great course. Ran better than expected following a brief lay off, but couldn't make all of the hill at 4! Very fast last two miles or so.
Not good that there was no water at finish already mentioned, and having a few people in front down the approach to the finish, I just couldn't see the line until I was past it! Mug and voucher not good value. If they re-worked the end, I'd consider coming back.

In short: Nice course - terrible end.
In full: "The start line is out of the gate and 500m to the right up the hill by the caravan. It will take at least 15 mins to get there." said the tanoy voice. This caused a lot of confusion as the start line was out of the gate, 40m to the right, bottom of the hill and took 4 mins to get there. So 12 mins stood in the cold - thanks for that!

Off we went, lovely route - even the hill at Beaksbourne was nice! Around the countryside we went, passingthe 400m to the finish sign, then to a surprise finish down a little ally to an open field where nothing was awaiting us. No drinks, no prizes, no real welcoming party. By luck more than anything else, found there were free mugs available in the sports hall just sat on a table for us to collect. Then we had to pay to get a cup of tea! Might have been nicety fill these cups with tea for us to collect!!

Very dismal end to a great course. Probably return if things are changed.

In short: Lovely race but where's my medal?
In full: Having done it before in 2008 and 2009 I was really disappointed after getting a PB that i didn't get a medal! I also didn't like the new finish. But the scenery was great as always and the marshalls very friendly and encouraging.

In short: One of my favourite races in terms of scenery but not in terms of value for money
In full: Positive things first - a great course and nice scenery which takes in pretty villages and country tracks with great views over the surrounding countryside. A very popular 10 mile race which attracts a good level of entries. My PB course so I will always have fond memories of it.

Now for the negatives - Lack of water at the finish is either a bad oversight by the race team or an intentional move. Either way it's not good. Yes you could theoretically get a drink in the hall but lots of people were complaining about the queues so didn't bother. A mug for finishing ? I would perhaps accept that for a £6 10k race but not for the price of this one.

A great route and race but not good value for money by any stretch of the imagination.

In short: comments have been a bit harsh
In full: Loved the race. Great that the last 4km are fast and very slightly down hill. Very popular race. Big numbers at the start line. Happy to return next year. Are the results out yet??
cant seem to find them on line.

In short: Well done but one or two points for improvement
In full: Thanks to Invicta East Kent AC for organising this. Thanks to the marshalls for standing out in the cold and directing us. Thanks to the support staff.

I really enjoyed this race. I thought the scenary was excellent. The weather was pretty good for late January, cool but dry with not much wind. I didn't think this was a tough course. There's a steep hill at four miles but it's only about 400 metres long. Most people seemed to run all the way up it. I didn't think any of the other hills were too bad.

I thought the first water station was perfectly placed, but the second one was a bit too late at just before the 8 mile mark. I didn't see any water at the end as the instructions had suggested and I gather I was not the only one. Also I think 250ml water bottles are better than paper cups.

I'm happy with a mug rather than a medal.

I was in the middle so did not need much help finding my way around. However I did speak to someone at the end who was at the back of the field and had gone wrong at one point. Thus maybe some extra marshalls might help.

Others have commented on the finish which was a bit strange. The start was a bit crowded, but they often are.

According to my Garmin: the race was 16.11km long the gross climb 108m; the steep hill was 31m climb in 410m; another hill involved a climb of 34m in 960m.

The last 4km were very fast.

In short: Fun race but bit of a let down at the end
In full: The organisation at the start and all the marshall & supporters out and about were great.

As others have said; a drink at the end and a clear finish line somewhere in the middle of the field and not at the gate would have avoided the rather drab end to what otherwise was a spot on course.
