In short: Very well organised and well-located race. In full: Great organisation for this first race. Facilities were excellent for the number of entrants - no wait for the loos etc which is a real bonus! I agree with others who have said the end was difficult due to having to double back, but not a real issue. Well done to the organisers - but hope that the number of entrants don't increase and damage the organisational aspect of this event. Date of review: March 29, 2011
In short: Fast with a wicked twist at the end In full: Loved this race, fun and fast, and great a great goody bag at the end. I will be back next year as the twist at the end took the wind out of my sails abit!! PB for me so well happy. Date of review: March 29, 2011
In short: well organised, nice flat course In full: Impressively organised for a first time event, and didnt seem too bad having to run two laps.
Would agree with others that the finish was a bit of killer! I'd definitely run it again, and would know what to expect next time, but it would be nice if we could get those extra yards out of the way somewhere along the course and have a straight finish at the stadium. In short: A nice race, well organized and friendly. In full: The return stretch of road from the furtherst part of the loop was a bit straight and boring, but otherwise a fun race, especially the bit at the end where people who hadn't checked the route beforehand realised there was a little bit more to go- the looks on their faces! In short: Great race, very friendly, easy to park. Final loop very hard, would have prefered if that bit could have been accounted for at the beginning, but a good fast route. Well done to the organisers on the inaugural event. Date of review: March 29, 2011
In short: Excellent organisation - lovely course - freindly atmosphere! Do it next year! In full: Cracking location to start a run of this size - loads of parking and marshalls/support staff to get you ready for the off! Nice semi rural course with only a couple (unless ive blanked them out) of moderate climbs - good on-course marshalling and friendly supporters. Would agree with a couple of other comments about the finish being a bit of a killer when you turn for home and realise you have to run past the start/finish line and double back on yourself - but do acknowledge that the extra distance has to come from somewhere. Anyway - cracking race/lovely day (+weather) and loved the towel in the goody bag! Date of review: March 28, 2011
In short: Lots of positives about this event! Worth repeating. In full: As a local, this was a must-do. Very impressed with the organisation. Thankfully, the route avoided a nasty hill, and so improved chances of a PB. Traffic proved to be a bit of an issue especially for us slower runners struggling with the wicked twist at the finish! For a maiden event, it was excellent - well done! Date of review: March 28, 2011
In short: Enjoyable route, great suport from locals and marshall volunteers were helpfull and supportive In full: It was my first race in some year.I was a bit nervous turning up not knowing if it was a serious club meet or whether individuals like myself were participating. There was clear instruction on where to register and it was quick and easy. The race started on time even though there was some confusion as to where to start but a messge over the tannoy soon cleared that up and i headed to the back of the pack! I enjoyed the twice loop course as it gave you a insight into what the second half was gonna intail. My only gripe is the finish, as you come around the corner to the crowds you still have an uphill run aroudn the roundabout and back down which would be nice if they could eliminate this. But given the distance and that it is a twice loop course im sure if they coudl they would. I thouroughly enjoyed the day and i can see if being a permanent welcome to British summer time! In short: Good flat course, great scenery, fantastic organisation In full: Really great first half-marathon, thank you! The atmosphere and organisation were fantastic and everything went off without a hitch. Will definitely be here again next year and it has spurred me on to take part in more half-marathons! In short: A nice, relatively flat outing, good PB potential. Didn't like the finish... would have preferred a straight end, In full: A nice, relatively flat outing, good PB potential. Didn't like the finish... would have preferred a straight end, I nearly sprinted with tired legs to what I thought was the finish, only to find the turn, and a quarter to a third extra mile to the finish. (and couldn't see the time) so I am eager to see the results!
Other than that, perfect, well organised, good conditions, good marshalling and support, nice goody bag. Date of review: March 28, 2011
