In short: A really mixed half marathon. Lots of runners, hils to provide a challenge, and good atmosphere. Let down by lack of road closures and some poor marshalling (letting traffic out of supposedly closed roads when runners passing)

In short: Great new route and fantastic organisation as always.
In full: The new route really made a difference this year. Last time was my first half and this time I really enjoyed having a route that was less rural.

Running through the town centre provided a great atmosphere (despite the added hill!) and a feeling that the race was integrated into the town.

The marshals provided brilliant support all the way around the course, at one point I rounded a corner expecting there to be a dozen of them and it was just two!

Route difficulty was still on the easy side of things, even though there were more hills this year they were early enough on that powering through them was a realistic option and none of them were so long you lost hope of ever reaching the top.

Looking forward to next year already :)

In short: good but could be better
In full: great to have a big race in home town.
but the back half needs to have roads cloced as well.

In short: I've had better
In full: I can see there are lots of comments about the road closures and I must say I totally agree. Running a half marathon is challenging enough without having to watch out for trucks trying to run you down!!
Also I'm sure like many people when I run I like to listen to music was quite hard to run without it! I understand that as it was a road race headphones were banned so that people would be more aware of their surroundings but why not just say headphones worn at own risk!!

In short: Really enjoyed the run. Course much better than the 2 lap last year. Enjoyed the town/country mix. Only 2 small grips 1. Almost got hit by a van on roundabout(despite road closures!),why were they let through? b)On a warm day more water stops please

In short: Much improved on last year, some mile markers not in right position, and the finish would be better as a straight rather than a strange twisting back on yourself. Has potential to get bigger, as a lovely mix of town and country run

In short: Early start means little support, but also fewer cars!
In full: A lot of 'wants' from newer runners, but as races go this ticked far more boxes than most - if you can attack the first half of the race - the one mile downhill followed by a tough climb, the High St and then a gradual one mile uphill - all good fun.
It is my local race and we are lucky to have the football stadium to start and finish - got my pb here and was chuffed to bits!
Get a date on the medal though!

In short: Ran it both times second year far better route
In full: I live in Colchester so a local half was very welcome.

I ran the course twice before the race, getting it wrong both times! But hey it was fun. I like the route and I enjoyed it. I found the road closure times a tad scary but was inside them all. I'm a 2.06.23 half runner so no speedy bloke here.

The marshals were plentiful and on the whole a happy clappy encouraging bunch. The route has a great fast start, lovely sharp hill, North Hill, and then a nice slow drag up the Ipswich Road until you hit the flat to the finish. From mile 6 you could do a PB!
My answer to the long 3 mile boring straight to the finish was fartlek it. Such fun !!

The goody bag was nothing great, but then I have a drawer full of tee shirts so happy the money goes to charity than another tee!

The medal is a rather light weight version- must do better! Yes I will do it next year and I'd recommend it. Hopefully the town might fill up a tad for a bit of screaming down the High Street. At least my family came to cheer me on; then again we only live 600meters from the route!
