In short: A very scenic undulating route (or should that be roots)? Date of review: February 6, 2009

In short: Lovely course, bit slow because of width of track and occassional fences, which was good for a first timer like me. Date of review: August 18, 2008

In short: Even in 30C it was memorable especially the kissing gates towards the end it felt like there were hundreds of them...! Date of review: August 8, 2008

In short: very hot day, but a great little race, despite being flat its not one for PBs, In full: We've done this both years - and really like the fact that it changes direction - means you notice things that you didnt see the year before. V well organised, and really friendly marshalls - loads of water stations which was really appreciated - not one for a PB, as despite being dead flat theres far too many narrow sections and kissing gates, but all make for a really pretty course. In short: Hot but fun ! In full: More an 'event' to be enjoyed than a 'race' to attain a PB due to nature of the course and the summer heat. Great scenery, fantastic organisation, plentiful water stations, and a nice unusual momento too. My family also enjoyed spectating from Cookham and at the end. Date of review: August 4, 2008

In short: Well organised, great views, plenty of water In full: Well organised with great views and plenty of water (just as well given the 28c heatwave). Not really an issue for me, but there was a bit of congestion at the first 'kissing' gate. Less of a problem next year as it will be almost at the end of the race. Date of review: August 3, 2008

In short: Fantastic scenery, excellent organisation but far too many obstacles for pb In full: Fantastic scenery, excellent organisation but far too many obstacles for pb. Slowed at start due to single person only stretches for first few miles. Next time I would start closer to the front. A feat to finish as the heat was at danger level. I never normally stop for water, but stopped (literally) at every station and drank the water before moving on. The gates near the end were the most frustrating,I lost count and when you are tired you need to keep moving. I went flying at one point, due to a mix of tree roots and a sudden dip in the ground. Luckily I landed and slid on my back rather than hitting my knee (which is what normally happens if I fall). Worth doing for the glorious scenery and excellent organisation. Sorry to hear about water running out, but 1 minute it was dull and threatening rain, the next minute sweltering. So really difficult to call. The marshalls should have stuck to one bottle per runner, they were sympathising though and offering 2 each time to front runners. Date of review: August 2, 2008

In short: Well organised race and did what it said on the tin In full: I thought this was a well organised race and did what it said on the tin. I did think when entering the race of a PB, but the hot weather put paid to that. The marshals were great and the bottles of water were a good idea. Even though the paths were narrow most people did kindly move out the way, I just wish the small gates over the last couple of miles did as well. By the time I got to them my legs were getting tied and I knew that if I’d stop it would take some time for them to start moving again. I have never been more pleased to see the finish line in a race before (due to the heat). I will look forward to next years run, but I am not sure about running from Marlow to Windsor as I thought this year’s set-up was just right for the course. Well done to all that entered and survived the weather, along with marshals along the way.

In short: Very well organised flat, incredibly scenic race In full: Coach to start was great. Loads of water stations every one of which was vital in soaring heat. Last station needed resiting in shade and a perhaps a bit more supervision to ensure fair play - one lad doing his best. Great route with a mixture of surfaces to challenge. Huge range of abilities which was good considering the (relatively) small field. Lady with the hose shower was a lovely surprise. Loads of food avail at the finish. Even with the heat I thoroughly enjoyed it - perhaps as I'm not very fast and walking little bits was the norm for me. Date of review: July 29, 2008
