In short: Marvellous! In full: I was pretty nervous about doing this - especially when I turned up and it seemed like everyone else was a running club racing whippet - but I needn't have worried, it was fine.
It was hilly, and it was hard work (16 miles is a long way!), but the changing terrain, beautiful scenery and friendly atmosphere made the time pass quite quickly.
Only down side - I would have liked a momento of some kind - just because it was such hard work, it would have been nice to have something to show off (sad I know). There again, for £9 - which included a scenic coach tour to the start - can't really grumble.
In short: Fabulous scenery all the way - a tremendous run In full: Really can't praise this one enough. True the second half of the race was pretty tough going with a hard climb at mile 8 but it was easily worth it for the beautiful route along the Downs. For a Londoner like me it was wonderful being able to do 16 miles off road on tracks and across some lovely springy grassy fields.
The marshalls were fab and the support from other runners was great. Its a tough race and quite a clubby field so probably not one for first timers but for anyone else i'd highly recommend this run.
We were lucky with the weather - it might be a little less fun in the rain!
Only gripe....well a medal would have been nice as it was hard work. That said it was a pleasure to run so I can't complain! Date of review: April 11, 2005
