In short: Mud, mud & more mud!! In full: Wear appropriate footwear for this one.....not track shoes like I had on!! A great race with a good atmosphere. I also gave 100% for scenery as If you'd have been able to see it I'm sure it would hae been great. Let down badly by the marshall on the first coach who told a load of us not to take any bags/clothing onto the bus with us as we couldn't leave it there. Ended up freezing for 20 minutes on the hill-top before the start. In fact there were cars to take your gear back to the finish. Date of review: March 31, 2006
In short: A muddy, hilly and well organised event In full: Another great success for Overton Harriers - well organised and supported by local marshalls, whose enthusiasm wasn't dampened by the weather conditions!
Welcoming atmosphere to all who took part. great training run for those training for a spring marathon
In short: great route, nearly all off road, with some good "downs" as well as some tough "ups". The slippery/muddy conditions made the going very tricky.Would be a really good summer event! Date of review: March 29, 2006
In short: tough off roader - hills and mud - everything a race needs In full: a well organised point-point tough off-road hilly run with lots of mud over the first section which even trail shoes struggled to get grip (yes, i did go over). Shame about the awful weather at the start but once out of the clouds got some glorious views of the Downs. Seemed to be mainly serious/club runners out on the course but i'm sure that may have been partly down to the poor weather. Nice cakes and tea at the end to help the revival process. Well worth adding to your running diary Date of review: March 28, 2006
In short: Muddy In full: Started off in mud, then there was some more mud, then it got really muddy. In between the mud were various sized puddles which helped to wash off the mud.Glorious race and a very much welcome downhill finish.[Did I mention the mud] Date of review: March 28, 2006
In short: Mud and Hills and Rain and Lots of Fun In full: Great Race, well organised, coach to the start, tea and cakes, mud to drown in, hills that test, good marshalls, changing facilities and all for £7.00. Date of review: March 28, 2006
In short: Choose your shoes carefully! In full: Made the mistake of running in old road shoes - like running on glass in socks, with all the mud! Weather grim so not much chance to admire the scenery as you couldn't really see it, but hey-ho! Good marshalling, decent coaches to the start, well organised generally. Would have been nice to have had some sort of memento at the end to mark your efforts, and even nicer not to have had to pay for your tea and cake! Date of review: March 27, 2006
In short: If only I'd worn my fell shoes... In full: Fantastic race, really well organised. Had mild panic attack at start when thought I should have worn fell shoes but had decided against given the distance and recent dry weather...ho hum..still, 16 deeply muddy miles later I finished feeling exhilarated, had such a great time will definately be back - it's character building stuff!! In short: Fun, Muddy, Fun, Windy, Fun, Rainy, Fun, Hilly.....and lots of Fun In full: I enjoyed every part of the race, the mud, the rain, the hills, the wind, they are all part of the challenge. The organisation was like clockwork excellent buses to the start, great marshalls, who provided excellent support on a rather wet day. The tea and cakes were excellent. Date of review: March 27, 2006
In short: A really tough off road race (particulary with the solid mud in the first 5miles) but fantastically organised and really friendly. In full: For £7 it was a bargain and I loved the coach to the start, even if due to the clouds we couldn't see it when we got there!
One definitly to repeat, but in off road shoes next time!! Date of review: March 26, 2006
