In short: fast mainly downhill mt race In full: very cold on the gibbet so very fast (sprint start) surface very knobbly as mud had dried rockhard so i had to watch my footing - rain and mud for next year please. enjoyed the climb after the A34 didnt enjoy the road sections! finished just in time before I hit the wall. probably will do it again if it doesnt clash with the chedworth 10 like it has in most previous years Date of review: April 21, 2010
In short: A polce escort to the start - fantastic In full: Thanks to Overton Harriers, marshalls and the Police for excellent organisation and a very friendly race. With the exception of two climbs this race felt like it was downhill pretty much all the way making it a very fast trail race, kept thinking their must be another hill around the corner but there was not. Thoroughly enjoyed it, good weather tho the wind up at Combe Gibbet ensures a quick getaway! Look forward to doing this one again - thanks Date of review: April 12, 2010
In short: Super run In full: First time I've done this and my expectations were high as everyone told me how fab it was - and it is! Beautiful scenery, testing in places but the only real hilly bit seemed to be the two mile drag after the underpass. Will definately do it again, making sure my other half is fit enough next year. Missed the plane with the proposal! Date of review: April 12, 2010
In short: Probably the Best Race in the World In full: This is the first race on my calander each year and I arrive with great expectations and they are always exceeded. The organisation floorless, marshalls in the key places, 16.1 miles marked without exception, key road junctions marshalled and policed, good facilities at the finish and wonderfull cakes.
AND the scenery is superb, wonderful views over thousands of acres of british countryside, watching red kites dance in the skys above your head.
Also this year there was a proposal of marriage by banner pulled by a plane overhead (she said yes!).
This is a race everyone should do at least once Date of review: April 12, 2010
In short: Uplifting yet Challenging Race In full: My third time running this race and love it more every year, although this year the weather was great which helped. Really well organised and friendly host club. Beautiful scenery, a few challenges along the way, but otherwise a straight forward run, and the distance of 16miles makes a nice inbetween race distance from the 1/2 to full marathon distance.
