In short: No medal for the 10K ...GUTTED!
In full: This course is not suited to beginners and the PB potential is low. This is demonstrated by the winning 10K time of around 40 mins. If you have participated in several 10K races, then this course should prove enough of a challenge to maintain interest.

NEGATIVE: I'm very disappointed that medals were not being handed to those individuals completing the 10K race, instead we were all just given t-shirts. The organisers need to make it clear on the Runners World site that ONLY individuals completing the marathon and half-marathon would receive a medal and t-shirt. The start was rather abrupt and several runners were caught out, so a little warning or message would be far better.

POSITIVE: Though the race was not chip-timed, I think the organisers coped well with the gates at the finish area. However I know some people in earlier reviews felt that it needed to be improved because they probably had more laps to consider and may have mis-counted the number of laps completed. The run location was nice, especially coming down the gentle slope with the lake in sight. Though I only received a t-shirt, it was the right size and had all the event details on there.

To all those runners who did the marathon and half-marathon, I salute you ...but you guys are craaaazy! I may be back, but only because I have a realistic chance of winning. I ran 48:12 with absolutely no training, I should be able to shave 7-10 mins off that time.

In short: Keep the race as it is. Don"t change ANYTHING
In full: The 26 laps are hard but your never far from the finish.
I said don"t change anything, however events like this, Beachyhead,
The picnic, Greensand etc should try to be kept apart as there must be lots of runners who would do them all given the chance.

In short: Challenging!!! 26 Hills, not for the faint harted
In full: Was an excellent course but very hilly! After each hill there was time to recover but if doing a half or full marathon this did get very difficult after 8-9 miles. The laps aint as bad as you think. Very good day overall.

In short: More like an off road ultra
In full: Good organisation. Friendly bunch of runners. But two hills repeated 26 times means much tougher and slower than road race, even if gentler on the body. Laps didn't get boring because of scenery and level of challenge - but not to be underestimated. Would have been really hard had it been muddy: but we had perfect weather

In short: Doing laps was surprisingly pleasant but that 1st hill was not.
In full: Good race. Pretty hilly but a lovely park when the weather is right. This has kicked off my cross-country season perfectly so will look out for it next year. Hills are hard but it was good having water on each lap and a loop with a mix of abilities means there is always someone just ahead to chase down keeps you going.

In short: Pleasure/pain.
In full: Really good race as my first off road half marathon, a real challenge with those hills that didn't look too bad at first but were pure evil after a few laps. How anyone did the full marathon I don't know!
I quite liked the lap system as it was ideal for pacing and you knew exactly where you were and what to expect.
When we gathered at the start/finish area I felt that it could have been very chaotic with three races at once but it was organised very well and the marshalls updating you on laps if you asked them.
Congratulations to everyone who ran and I'll definately see you next year if you enter.
A medal and nice t-shirt qualifies as the best value race I've attended.

In short: Back again and loved it
In full: This race is SO well organised- the BEST from my experience, it is such an achievement to complete it and I beat my time last year by 9 mins in the 1/2!!!!!!!!

Great:
medal,
t-shirt,
choice of energy drinks,
water in sports-cap bottles (great touch!), MUCH better than cups!
jelly babies,
christmas cake,
supportive marshals,
encouraging lap marshals/ time-keepers,
scenery!

I have friends who race who say 'I couldn't do laps- too boring.' BUT you have the advantage of only having to go 1 mile before refreshments/ removing the extra layer and not having to take it round with you/ getting the support of your family at every lap/ knowing what is coming and counting those dreaded hills down/ picking up the dropped drink so you are hands-free for a mile or 2!

Do not knock it before you try it- you will find yourself coming back for more! I did!

Also this race supports Teach Africa, I've just checked out the website and there are ULTRAs on there- maybe one day......
