In short: Looks like the preparation of choice for the FLM! In full: As one of life's slow runners, I worried that there would be too many serious FLM participants. I needn't have worried, there were many who were much better than me, but a few who were just as slow. I thought the start was a bit vague, the marshalling very good, the support sparse but enthusiastic and the finish a bit vague as well. Overall, a good experience and thanks to the organisers and volunteers. Date of review: April 21, 2009

In short: Great FLM prep, good organisation, tough race In full: This was great prep for the FLM - the perfect distance (and I loved that it was exactly 21.2 miles). It's a runner's run I'd say - without the fun runners and glitz you'd get from the big Half's (Brighton, Hastings etc). That's not a criticism, just an observation. The support was good, but due to the nature of the course there are long periods without support. I found the race tough, but purely because of the distance - I'm glad I was able to do my longest run as a well placed race though, it would have been hard to have kept going if I was just doing it alone.
My only two comments for improvements were the finish was a bit hazardous with the cars - and I wasn't even sure where it actually was as it was around a corner. Also I'd agree that it wasn't clear where the drinks were when you crossed the line, I had to ask a marshal. I think after doing a race of that length you need to literally be able to see them in front of you - I wasn't in any state to be wondering around trying to work out where they were!
All in all a valuable race, perfect for the FLM training schedule, well organised and good value for money too. Date of review: April 6, 2009

In short: Excellent Weather - Mostly Traffic free In full: I spectated last year as my Big Sis was running. The weather this year couldn't have contrasted more, as we both ran the 21 miles this year. I didn't know what quite what to expect as this was my longest race to date. The rather gentle looking hill that you do at 14 and then again at 20, did for me finishing the race in my estimated time (thats my excuse anyway). Any way i shall definetly try and make it back for more Jelly Babies next year as I know have a target to beat. I think this race was excellently organised apart from the Finish which others have commented on here. My suggetion should the race organisers be reading this would be to move the Finish down the Downs Link path so the race finished near to one of the Football pitches near the leisure center. This would make the course a few hundred yards longer. However This would however keep spectators and tired runners away from Cars and delivery Lorries on the narrow road where the current finish is. It would also be nearer to the race HQ in the bandroom and Leisure Centre showers should people wish to use them. Date of review: April 3, 2009

In short: Lovely course and a good idea for the 15/21 option In full: There were great intentions with this race and great efforts from the volunteers and organisers. But it has to be said that the finish was very dangerous with the passing cars and marshalls who weren't sure about controlling the traffic. If the road can't be closed then they should think about finishing on the oval. The drivers were more interested in getting to and from shopping rather than slowing down for the runners. Thanks to all the friendly volunteers and the couple with the jelly babies. Date of review: April 1, 2009

In short: Well organised, great pre-London race/training run for both experienced runners & first timers. In full: Great pre-London race/training run with excellent organisation & route.Nice touch that you do not have to stipulate whether to to run the 15 or 21.Bramley 10/20 take note. Cannot agree with the previous comments about the drinks at the end of the race. They were only a few yards from the finish. There was no problem with the short piece of busy road as there were several marshals on this stretch. My only gripe was the £1.50 charge for showers at the leisure centre (out othe control of the race organisers. Decided to drive home & luxuriate in my own bath with a beer!
