In short: Good but not worth the entry fee In full: Nice fat course, well organised but so expensive to enter! Congestion everywhere (toilet queue, parking, bag drop, start pens, through most of the course) so despite it being flat I think it would be hard to get a PB. The wind on the last 2 miles this year was the worst I've experience in 5/6 yeas of doing this one.....people being blown all over the place and being forced to slow to a near walking pace. Def need to keep some energy in the tank for this bit! Nice medal at the end but t shirt not my favourite (white, non tech shirt). Worth doing once to say you've done it but not sure it has enough positives to tempt people back year on year. Date of review: March 9, 2014
In short: Windy, windy and yet more wind!.. In full: Probably the windiest GSR that I've done, but don't care as I got a much coverted PB!.. Very expensive, but is televised and you get a very decent goodie bag and a nice medal at the end. Also managed to see the eventual winners whilst at 10K, loads of crowd support and local to my Dad's place, so very handy. All in all, worth doing as it is shorter than a half so can be attacked, but just watch out for the wind!.. ;-) Date of review: November 1, 2013
In full: My first experience of a BUPA run. I found the general organisation okay, but feel that there should have been pace markers in the corrall as often had to weave around slower runners and walkers (in the middle of the road!) which was tiring. They weren't joking when they said there was a two mile headwind at the end so save something in the tank! Nice touch with organisers handing out jelly babies around mile 9! Very expensive for a 10 miler, so would probably only consider it next year if the price were reduced. Date of review: November 1, 2013
In short: Bit too expensive, too many people for PB potential In full: I was really looking forward to this and weather aside it was a bit of a let down, we were held up in various places due to the amount of people. the marshals were a bit underwhelming with their cheering on, least the spectators were more vocal! Don't think I'd bother again, for the money there are better options. Date of review: November 1, 2013
In short: Flat, Windy, but £41 for a 10 mile - really? In full: A nice route taking in the main sights of Southsea and Portsmouth. Very flat and if there was no wind factor then a very fast time is achievable.
The entry fee of £41 for a 10 mile race is shocking. It's another Event ticked off the list but I won't be back. Whilst BUPA do a great job with the overall organisation of these events and whilst they continue to grow in numbers the price will only go up and up in future. Date of review: October 31, 2013
In short: Great race. Well organised. In full: This was my second year at this race and I've really enjoyed both of them. Very well organised and considering how many people took part, I didn't get stuck in crowds. Date of review: October 28, 2013
