In short: Great race with very good undulating course In full: Really liked the race. Thanks to the marshalls whose encouragment was fantastic. I thought the course was more undulating than hilly, the ups weren't too long and you could enjoy the downs. As for medals and goodie bags, nice medal was received but personally I'd be happy without one and put the money to a good cause or a lower entrance fee. Date of review: May 10, 2010
In short: Lovely country lanes but undulating may be a bit of an understatement! In full: Great local race feel. Organisation was fine. Very rarely flat, you're either going up a hill or back down. A few tough hills but they're only short. Date of review: May 10, 2010
In short: A challenging race in pretty Hertfordshire countryside In full: The organisation is good and although there is no-where specific to leave your bag I felt it was safe enough leaving mine in the school hall. I didn't worry about that at all.
The start is slow because of a narrow path and lots of people but in a way that's no bad thing as this is a tough race and it helps not to go off too quickly in the excitement.
All the marshalls were clapping and cheering us along and I appreciated and thanked every single one of them for doing that.
There are two really tough hills, and a couple not so bad. It's lovely running in the countryside and there were bluebells everywhere.
It's a great feeling wearing the medal at the end. Date of review: May 9, 2010
In short: Enjoyable as always In full: This is the 4th year in a row I've run this race and, again, I enjoyed it especially as it wasn't as hot as the previous two years.
There aren't many spectators en route but the marshalls are very good and encouraging. I disagree with the comments that the hills are mostly downhill, there are definitely at least two more ups than downs!
I can do without chip timing as that would increase the cost of entering (which is a nice price) but they need to enourage some slower runners to start at the back, not the front!
In short: well organised race with a good route In full: the hills didn't seem as tough as last year, but that could be because it wasn't too hot this year. it does seem more downhill than up, and it's only the second half which seems up. That's the most I've enjoyed the course (a lot of which is also on the St Albans half marathon route). Well done Striders. Date of review: May 9, 2010
In short: Clockwork organisation, dont worry about the hills - seems more down than up! In full: Great race - would definitely do again. Parking wasnt a problem (thanks Waitrose!) and great facilities at the school. Couldnt resist a cake before the race! Slow start due to having to run along narrow footpath but after first 0.5k lots of space along quiet country lanes - more scenic than I was expecting. Well worth a go. Date of review: May 9, 2010
In short: A well organised race..yet again In full: As ever, the Striders have organised a superb race. Sometimes there were too many marshals; but they all encouraged the runnersw as they passed. Great race! Date of review: May 9, 2010
