In short: lovely scenery on undulating course. done race whilst 'down south' on holiday for last few years. always look forward to it and race secretary most helpful with this years late entry. highly recommended. Date of review: August 10, 2006
In short: Lovely scenery! In full: Lovely run through the countryside. Same gripes as other people - toilet situation was hideous. Need far more. There was no provision for those who travelled by train - no organised bag check. Luckily on of the marshalls said they would keep an eye on it for us but they are not responsible! And nowhere to change - there were 1000 runners so not like it was a small field! Good to have 3 water stations though I thought the 2nd and 3rd ones were too far apart but that was probably just tiredness! Worth doing again for the lovely views! Missed PBN by 30 secs - I blame the long grass at the start! Date of review: July 14, 2006
In short: A great run, mainly on trails, through the New Forest In full: A very well organised run, through the scenic New Forest, mainly on trails. The early start was appreciated, as was the additional water station. The weather was cooler than previous years, but was quite windy. Luckily the rain stopped before the start, but it helped to dampen down the trails, which were normally hot and dusty.
Stewards were encouraging and actually calling out constructive comments and encouragement.
The only downsides are the additional toilets that were promised did not materialise, and the water tasted no better than last years. However, when the race was first run, there were no drinks provided as under AAA Rules, no races of 10 miles or under allowed drinks. We must think ourselves lucky. The first mile is always congested and slower runners tend to start near the front and slow others down. It would be great if there could be pens at the start so that we line up according to ability.
I will definitely be back again next year. Date of review: July 10, 2006
