In short: A pleasant run with a local club feel, well organised with a small number of runners. A bit pricey for what you get. In full: I enjoyed the run through the woods, the start is a bit congested as the first track you go down is quite narrow, would have been better starting near a wider section. Soon opened up though as the 50 or so runners thinned out. It's a 2 lap course which I liked as you knew what was coming up second time round and could leave enough in reserve for a hill towards the end. Some of the ground was uneven with plenty of tree roots to catch you out so I spent a fair bit of the time staring at the groung rather than enjoying the scenery. Balanced out by some stretches that were on tarmaced paths so a reasonable mix really. However it's a pricey event, just water for drinks and a cheapo medal at the end, not even a banana or a mars bar for your 15 quid. Date of review: October 27, 2007
In short: A nice stroll through the woods In full: A glorious setting, trails through woods in wonderful autumnal colours, soft underfoot but not muddy (but could be if the weather is wet in the preceding days). Plenty of ups and downs and twists and turns. A nice small village-feel kind of race. I estimated the field at about 60, so a top 100 finish is guaranteed!
My only gripe is the price. With no changing or baggage facilities and no loos, £15 was twice the price it should have been. Date of review: October 27, 2007
