In short: Tough but magnificent! In full: Outstanding marshalling although a bit flat at the end. You've no chance of seeing the prizes ceremony if you aren't an elite runner! Really tough course but glorious scenery. Make sure you save plenty of energy for the harder second half! Date of review: October 18, 2012

In short: Great that the Clarendon Marathon has been resurrected and long may it continue. In full: I'm afraid I have some bad news for all my supporters - I'm NOT going to be able to complete My 60 Marathons in 60 Weeks at 60 Years Challenge. It's going to be all over on Friday the 21st December at midnight, when I will have completed about 52 of my 60 marathons. In-fact I'm not even going to reach my 61st birthday on Saturday the 22nd. That is if you believe in the prediction of the Maya civilisation (c 2000 BC to AD 250). According to a Channel 4 documentary a few days ago the Maya's predicted that the world would end at midnight on that date, with a combination of cataclysmic events. So therefore, No 61st BBBB, No birthday cake, and definitely No more marathons. While not wanting to diss one of the greatest, if not the greatest civilisations the world has ever known - I'll just keep going and keep my fingers crossed they're wrong and I'm able to carry on. In the meantime back to the running and the Clarendon Marathon - If you would like to read more then check out my full blog here at http://60in60at60.com/2012/10/07/m41-clarendon/ Date of review: October 16, 2012

In short: Super scenery interspersed with hard hills In full: Great course: Mostly off-road on trails (following the Clarendon Way) with some mud, roots and ruts thrown in for variety. Excellent organisation and friendly marshals. Enthusiastic support from locals along the way. Not likely PB but definitely memorable. Date of review: October 10, 2012

In short: Great race, very friendly and well organised, highly recommended In full: Really well done and thank you to the Rotary clubs for taking on the event for the first time this year, it was really enjoyable and must be a logistical nightmare to organise!
A few minor comments: tea/coffee at the start would be nice, especially if the weather turns out worse than it did; there were a couple of places when reaching junctions with noone in sight in front of me where I had to ask which way to go, it would have been great to have a bit more positive directing for us lonesome runners; and the results/prize giving didn't seem to work out very well considering there was chip timing.. but overall a great job and still one of the best races of the year! In short: Hills, rooty forest trails and great running In full: Great fun! Really enjoyed this race. Transport to the start and back to ark and ride worked beautifully. Stunning course, well marshalled with regular water stations serving bananas as well. A great day! Date of review: October 9, 2012

In short: A lovely rural jaunt In full: This was my 14th clarendon and they have all been challenging but great fun. Far more enjoyable than "road running" with pretty villages, good spectator and marshall support, spot on organisation and a few climbs- well the route is certainly undulating. In short: Great race, good organisation and lovely route! In full: Good race with super marshals, challenging hills and a few muddy patches! Worth keeping something in the tank for the second half which felt a bit hillier. Date of review: October 9, 2012

In short: Epic Epic Epic... a must do! In full: 2nd time running Clarendon, it's by far the toughest marathon course I've ever run but by far the most rewarding and enjoyable. Put the work in during training and you will remember this as one of your all time best events. For me it beats any major city marathon; it's personal and you really feel like part of the event and not just a number amongst thousands of others. Go on sign up for 2013, I dare you!
