In short: my favourite 10k ! In full: Third time running this race and it's now a firm fixture in my calendar. I was recovering from injury this year but taped myself and popped a couple of painkillers rather than miss it. Change to route this year meant we started at same place/time as half marathon. Things a bit handknitted at this point but porridge & hot drinks provided to keep spirits up. Glad to see chip mat at start rather than mass start as previously. Don't do this race for the goody bag - there isn't one! Do it for the feel good fundraising and glorious setting.
In short: My first race but i am now well and truly hooked. What a half this is. Beautiful and down hill!!! The crowds at the end gave me a lump in my throat. In full: Outstanding experience and i want to do it again! Never really wanted to run a half but the people made this so special. Wonderful course amazing scenary and i am now hooked...what next can anything be as good? Date of review: October 14, 2013
In short: First Half Marathon and loved it! In full: This was my first Half Marathon and I really enjoyed it although the last 6 miles on road were less pleasant than the first 7 on tracks/paths.
Although it is predominantly downhill there are some uphill bits which I actually enjoyed.
Two things that are worth knowing is that the markers count down i.e. 1 mile to go rather than 12.1 miles done and the water stations do not use Mains water i.e. private water supply but treated but can mean odd colour! Date of review: October 21, 2012
In full: Despite the chilly morning and the distinct lack of ladies loos at the start it proved to be a fabulous race. Lots of interesting scenery, one particularly nasty hill, a muddy, lochside single track which made meant that you had to spend a lot of time jumping over big puddles, followed by a lovely, long, mainly downhill, final 10k. Very friendly people, well organised and a superb setting. Only one small negative...I did not like the slippery grassy bit at the finish line! Date of review: October 17, 2012
In short: Awesome Scenery, high lPB possibility a must do HM In full: The views were stunning from start to finish, the first half of race was off road and then onto the road for the second. I'll be back next year that for sure! Date of review: October 17, 2012
In short: Beautiful scenery and almost all downhill!! In full: This race was amazing! The route was really pretty and even the road sections were fine. Support was patchy but lovely when it was there. And it is actually nearly all downhhill - definitely PB possibility!! Entry was a bit steep because we had to take a charity place but I think if we're organised enough next year we could save a bit on this. Organisation was fine, no problems collecting numbers or finding buses. Would definitely recommend this :) Date of review: October 15, 2012
In short: Scenery and organisation excellent In full: Overall there is very little to fault this race, even if it is a long way to travel (for me, anyway!). Registration and pasta party the evening before was appreciated; bussed up to the start Sunday morning. Tea and biscuits available (free) while we waited for the start. The race itself was gorgeous - first 6 miles or so mainly off-road, on various surfaces ranging from forest land-rover tracks to narrower paths, and undulating at this stage, though nothing horrendous. Last 10K downhill on the road (following the accompanying 10K race route) and although the road wasn't shut (the edge of the road coned-off) it was well marshalled throughout. Enthusiastic support once back in the town. Definitely a "do-againer" Date of review: November 1, 2011
In short: Great Course & Good Mix of Running In full: Really enjoyed this race. Course gives a good mix of woodland running past loch morlich and with a couple of good inclines followed by a very welcome downwards finsh. Course in general was beautiful. Organisation was fine and the bottle(large)of beer at the finish was a nice touch, better than the normal banana.
