In short: Nice race in a great setting. In full: Worth doing just for the run along the sea front. Start a bit tight, but a great finish. One or two climbs that can test you. Could have done with more water as it was a hot day. Date of review: February 1, 2006

In short: Good race but organisation needs to improve In full: This is mostly a fast course but is spoilt but poor organisation. Very little road running but what there was remained open to traffic. At one point a car was weaving through the runners and towards the end of the race a car turned into a junction directly in front of a group of runners on a downhill stretch and I ran into the back of it. At one point we were directed onto pavements which were up and down and draining on the legs. These roads were not busy and could easily have been closed. Few marshals. However, even these marshals were quiet and offered very little encourgagement to runners. Date of review: April 4, 2005

In short: Nice run but poorly organised In full: I felt the organisation was appalling for this race. The ladies toilets weren't fully opened until about 15 minutes before the race. The marshalls made very little attempt if any to stop traffic for us to cross the road. Also there were insufficient water stations, especially given the high temperatures yesterday. All in all very poor! Date of review: April 4, 2005

In short: Fantastic support all the way round! In full: I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. I though t the marshalling was excellent and the atmosphere brilliant. the water stations could have had bottles but as the info didn't say anything about energy drinks I brought my own. PB achieved, and really good that it only took 20 minutes to get home! Date of review: April 3, 2005

In short: Glorious weather made this just the perfect race In full: Not sure how much fun this would be in the stiff breeze and driving rain I usually come across in seafront races, but today with the blue skies it was just wonderful. Well over half the race is alongside the beach and the scenery was awesome. Made you feel good to be alive! Apart from a short sharp shock in the first mile, there are no hills to speak of (although the long gentle uphill grind around 3/4 of the way round is deceptively hard) which makes this definite PB potential. Water was (thankfully) plentiful this year in the hot conditions, and the wadge of malt loaf at the end was great - replaced more calories than I used up running! Great atmosphere at the start / finish, complete with brass band, and lots of encouragement on the way round. Marshalling & signposting & general organisation were flawless.
