In short: Had promise but I expected more. In full: Essentially a trail run with a couple of ponds and river crossings thrown in. Definately overpriced, and a poor goody bag for finishing. Salomon TurboX series are much better. Date of review: December 12, 2009

In short: Over-priced, but great fun In full: Value-for-money should be improved (eg improve goodie-bag at end) Could also add a few more fun obstacles (eg to climb). But nevertheless a great, fun event, worth doing. Good catering, too. Warm showers afterwards would be a dream come true, but not sure how they could be provided ! Date of review: December 11, 2009

In short: Tough but no Tough Guy! In full: Start was very congested and bottlenecks for the 1st 3 miles at least. Saw people walking after only 400 metres (surely you did some training?!?) A lot of mud and water. Saw a load of people going around the water but as i had paid for it, I though I would run straight through! After 5 miles, there was the oppurtunity to get some decent running in as the "puddles" were less frequent. Expecting the finish after 8 miles but was more like 9 ( according to the garmin 8,74!!!). Went into what i thought was the last corner only to see another loop before the finish! Demoralising was not the word i said at the time. Managed to finish in 1hr 12 so not too bad. did not realy want a T-Shirt but still, maybe a pices of mud attached to a ribbon would have been more apt... Date of review: December 10, 2009

In short: mud was deeper and the water seemed wetter this year. I ran with 11 18 year students in their 1st ever race and they had a ball! In full: PARKING - Superb, short walk to the start CHANGING - Basic and the que for the bag storage was mental RACE - Brilliant. Wet and muddy, well organised, good fun. bottle necks here and there but who cares NOT GOOD? what were the crappy cargo nets all about? They were rubbish I ran as part of a school team, all running in their 1st ever race and they were buzzing afterwards - All want to race again and the smiles on their faces in photos show how much fun this race is. In short: enjoyable day out In full: Well done again for another good race. Alot different from last year in reference to conditions, It was a shame that there was no drummers at the water feature as there was last year to give you that extra lift. Date of review: December 8, 2009

In short: Fantastic Mud Galore In full: Great Race and atmosphere, if you like mud and water heres the race for you. Not sure on the crawling camo net I just ducked behind a tall guy and walked under! trying to crawl would get you stepped on. Plenty of people to keep company and not a crowded feeling either(once you got going). Good Tshirt too. I would sugest having flaps for the changing areas as anyone standing outside was able to look in, maybe a floor covering too? would Def do it again. Date of review: December 8, 2009

In short: Not quite a Grim as expected.... In full: Good event and will definitely do it next year. The track is a lttle more user friedly than some similar events so my vote would be for: more filth, longer stretches of cargo nets and a couple of testing features on the relatively flat 2 miles between miles 5 and 7. In short: Fun, but overpriced In full: £25, for an 'extreme' XC race. Hmmm Ive done more challenging races. Entered as part of a team, so was more a social race for me, but for £25 you didnt 'get' much. Chip timed, and a t shirt. It was fun and very wet, however I wouldnt rush back as I have entered similar races that are less than half the cost (sodbury slog anyone!?) which I think are much 'better'. In short: Lives up to expectations of being wet, muddy and fun. In full: Must admit that on waking to driving rain and wind I did wonder if I was wise to race at all! Weather had cleared up by the time we got to the event though which was well signposted and parking was plentyful. Organisationally not too bad really, I had an issue with my entry which were easliy resolved via a quick email and the same with the race day organisation overall. I did however think this was let down with the free for all start. At various stages there were bottle necks as people waded through the pools, this could possibly have been avoided by having two or even three staggered starts a few minutes apart. The race itself though was fun and as was advertised aimed at mixed abilities, I did feel I'd run more challenging races this year such as Hellrunner. My only gripe is the entry fee, £26 is a bit steep for a t-shirt and sum mud, I've entered races this year with as much organisation for as little as £8, a goodie bag would maybe make it seem like better value for money.
