In short: Cold, muddy and challening but a whole lot fun In full: What better way to spend a Sunday morning than wading through a muddy bog, taking on an Alpine zone and splashing through some fairly monstrous puddles?
In its favour, this race is really well run with a fun atmosophere I haven't sampled anywhere else. The course is tough in places – the aforementioned bog under the first camo net is particularly hard work – but much of the rest of the course can be made easier by skirting the more menacing puddles.
My only slight criticism (and this is aimed more at some runners than the organisers) is that far too many people pushed their way to the front at the start only to start walking a few hundred metres in. This wasn't a race for PB-seekers, but it was annoying to spend the mile or so zig-zagging past slower runners.

In short: Good (un)clean fun In full: Great fun - you can pick and choose how many puddles you want to splash in and how long you spend in the mud - we got stuck right in and came near the back of the field but had a whale of a time in our group of eleven.
Personal opinion - don't get hung up on time of finishing positions, just go for a laugh and you'll get a lot more out of it. Date of review: December 8, 2011

In short: Worth looking forward too In full: As expected, great fun. Every aspect from the parking, catering, baggage, photos, finish, PA system, marshals, etc, etc extremely well organised (and so it should be for the cost). And above all, the course was good - with plenty of muddy puddles, mud pools and obstacles to remind us this is no ordinary hack through the woods.
My only complaint is that there were too many people pushing their way to the front of the start, only to be walking within 500 yards, then complaining with people barging past them. Otherwise difficult to find fault. Date of review: December 6, 2011
