In short: My first time - a great challenge. Will recommend to MK Lakeside Runners. In full: The mementos were good, but if I was only doing the half marathon I would have been very disappointed with just the water bottle. Due to budget contraints perhaps a medal could be given for doing any individual race. Dont engrave at the back. Instead have a basic ribbon denote the distance and year. This way if medals are left after the challenge it can be used year on year. Print in black on the cheapest ribbon and surplus requirements wont be costly. The paperweight or glass was sufficent to recognise the challenge of all 3. Dont have both in the same year. I know runners would have been pleased just to get a medal (even if it is the same - and yours is nice with a hole in it) and if they get 3 and the prize memento in that year all the better. Forget the water bottle. Cheers Yvey Date of review: June 25, 2008
In short: Every year is a different challenge... In full: Guys - this is how I saw it in the first year I didn't organise it for five years. Even though I run round the Colworth estate most lunchtimes, I never get tired of the terrain as the conditions change by the week.
The weather was actually perfect this year - dry on Friday night, but enough late rain to soften up the ground for Sat/Sun and Oggie's mother-in-law organised the wind on Sunday to dry out the tents.
For the record, medals for the 5 and tot glasses for the challenge are now "traditional"; the other two races usually get different mementoes each year (although this year it was more or less the same as 2007). It's quite tough deciding what to do within budgetary constraints but we do our best.
Congrats to all finishers - it is definitely a challenge. Date of review: June 24, 2008
In short: Great Challenging weekend! Free Camping and plenty of space a plus! Race Momentos were a little misaligned with the race they were handed out for. In full: Everything was great! I think the mementos should have been: Water Bottle 5 Miler, Shotglass 8.1 Miler and the Medal for the Half Marathon with the Laser engraved momento for completing all 3. Hopefully next years will be as good or even better! Date of review: June 24, 2008
In short: Super event, keep em coming. In full: I hope this will definitely happen next year! 2nd year in a row for me. Extraordinarily well organised and superb value for money - recommended. Date of review: June 23, 2008
In short: Excellent organisation and atmosphere In full: Many thanks to the organisers for such a fun and well run event. And a special thanks to the Marshall post the 6 and 12 mile marks on the half mara day for the pumping music from his car, much needed at the end. Tough 3 days, especially the muddy, rutted day 2 8.1 miler. Date of review: June 22, 2008
In short: Good off road half marathon In full: Never done before, but would consider again. Quietly stamina testing and a really good workout. Good conditions underfoot, sunny and wind in all directions. Thank you very much for the regular water stations needed for the sunny HM. Well marshalled and directed. Well organised. Good change of terrain, hills not too big, but excellent test, loved the woody bits nice especially in the shade. Really enjoyed it, not too busy, reasonably local and would probably come back again and maybe actually do the whole weekend, but we wont tell the legs yet. Date of review: June 22, 2008
