In full: Once again, excellent event in all aspects, friendly, well organised and pleasant, scenic route along the seafront.Got myself a 10k PB this year so along with that, the glorious weather and the generous goody bag & medal cant really find fault anywhere...looking forward to next year (when I plan to have a crack at the 8 mile race)! In short: Very pleasant seaside race, suitable for both club runners and fun/charity runners alike. Nice friendly organisation at start/finish area and decent goody bag. In full: This event is local to me so very easy to get to. Parking is free and easy to find. Toilet facilities at the start were not great, (I do know how much it costs to hire portaloos from being involved with cycle race organisation myself, so I fully appreciate why having more would eat into the event funds meaning less money for the RNLI, so perfectly understandable) Course mostly along wide promenade so easy to follow but sometimes having to zig zag round pedestrians could be a little frustrating. I did the eight mile event and did find some of the signage a little small and difficult to see until the last moment, (Not a problem for me as I`m local and had a pretty good idea where we would be going). Very impressed at finish where as I crossed the line somebody asked me my age category then told me I had a third place in category award which was given to me there and then, nice touch and very slick that! Overall a lovely event which I`ll do again. Date of review: October 8, 2012
In short: Excellence Once More In full: Second year I have done this, it is very well organised and marshalled. Run along the same route as the 10k but the direction for the extra couple of miles is spot on. Friendly organisers, a pleasure to run. Will definitely be back next year. In short: Beautiful day and speedy course In full: The only thing that let this otherwise great race down was the incorrect marshalling at the turning point for the Pieces of Eight (where 10k runners turned off and PoE runners continued). If there were signs they were obscured and the marshalls a bit vague.
I ended up running just 10k, as did one or two others apparently, and one 10k runner continued with the 8-mile lot.
Disappointing in terms of what I set out to do but still had PB potential so not a race wasted.
I did enjoy the 10k immensley and the distance markers were spot on.
Next year I'd suggest having a marshall directing runners, rather than the signs which are easily obscured when running in a crowd. Date of review: October 7, 2012
